Andy, your babies are beautiful! Nice job! The tank looks really clean. What lighting do you have on it? I've noticed with some of my tanks that those that have a lower amount of light on them seem to stay cleaner looking....even though I clean them all at the same time and do the same amount of water changing.

I have a clutch of gold stripe maroon eggs that should hatch tonight. I have 8 gsm babies that have made it to 3 months. It's been trial and error with these guys. So I'm trying something a little different with this hatch and see if I can get better results.

Are GSM's really that different/harder?

Thanks Barbara. I'm just using a 50/50 bulb instead of a regular incandescent bulb. I like the color better. I do know yellow light produce more algae then bluer light.

Congrats on the little gsm's ! So were's the pictures ?

This is what I've heard. I believe it so, though I haven't tried any other type of clownfish. I think the diet of the parents plays a very important role in the success of the larvae. Just my 2 cents.

I know I'm having difficulties. I only have one from my first batch that survived my trial and errors. The last couple from my second batch died on day five. I'm hoping three times a charm. I'm going strickly IA this time around in hopes that will help with oxygen and ammonia levels. It seems like the ammonia spikes during lights out when I add live phyto, so maybe taking this route will eliminate one issue anyway. Any suggestions Agsansoo? Us maroon breeder (wannabee's) need to stick together . On a more serious and happy note, my one clown is finally getting orange on his tail which was the last translucent part on his body

Well the 102 Day old batch from the picture above are starting to fight more now. One was pretty beat up last night. So I separated him from the others. Seems the larger fry are attacking the smaller ones. And they were doing so good too ! Oh well guess I'll go and buy a 10 gallon tank for them. Hopes this helps.

What are they in now agsansoo? Usually packing them together more will help. The more room they have the more they will fight.

They're still in that 4 gallon cube. Well the one I saved last night is doing good today. I checked on all of them today after work, all were fine. Not much fighting, so I thought. When I came back from grocery shopping, one was floating. Fins were torn up. He was also a smaller fry.

They are damsels after all. Has such, there does come a point where separation is the only answer.

I feel Bill is right. Two more smaller fry were dead last night. Both had badly chewed tail fins. One more was rescued into a smaller container with the first one I rescued a few day ago. I will set up a 10 gallon tank soon with lots of pvc pipes for smaller fry to hide. They should be ready for sale in about a month, I hope.

I have two older fry and a few younger fry. These guys are pretty aggressive, and have killed most of their smaller siblings. My female only spawns about three months out of a year. So I'm waiting for next years batches of eggs to arrive.
