Backup Power for a Wavebox?

I know this will most-likely fail but from what I've read I thought I would ask. Could I take the Tunze Safety adapter and use it on my wavebox? I understand that the DC power input would result in it constantly running but wasn't sure if this could work as a temporary circulation pump when the power cuts out or if there was a way to hook up batteries that would allow it to keep ocillating? I don't have a set of Tunze 6101s yet though are looking into them.

It will depend on the model of wavebox, if it is the newer model which has a 6261 pump which runs on DC power it will work and it will work with controller. The safety adapter will not work with the older 6260 pump.

Thanks! How will I know which one I have purchase? Do I need to take it apart and look at the pump directly?

And by works do you mean actual pulsating motion?

Yes, it will still pulse. If your pump has a round transformer and an aluminum driver box it is the older one. The new ones have no driver box and the transformer is rectangular.

Sweet! Thanks for the info. I will go ahead and order one of these backup with one of the gel batteries talked about on other threads.

BTW You are great tech support. You've fixed both my old tunze mounting brackets free of charge and in general answered my questions in less than a day. This goes far when weighing purchases of new pumps!

Just keep in mind that at 12V you likely won't get much of a wave, to get the full power you will need 24V, you could hook up two 12V batteries in series or likely find a 24V battery.
