Bad algae and other bad things on frags.

I pull off any nuisance hair by hand, then brush extra I don't want off with a pipe cleaner, or a safe makeup sponge if possible.

Do you dip and QT them after you do this to make sure you do not infest you main tank?

I will often pop the coral off a grungy frag plug and on to a new one, or mount it to a rock right away if I'm sure the flow & light are OK. If I don't do this for some reason I'll put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in the disk, scrub it with a brush all the while trying to keep it off of exposed tissue. I also start with a dip with two commercial products and or Bayer.

I believe the peroxide will neutralize any algae, eggs or aptasia larvae.

I heard from someone today that they fought against bryopsis using peroxide! like hit the bad spots with it and it would kill it off. :0

I would not bet your tank on peroxide against bryopsis. bryopsis wins a lot (actually most of the time). I've used it to control bryopsis. But the only thing that has been very effective for me is Kent's Tech-M.

I beat bryopsis (it's still in the tank and would come back if my husbandry slacked). I removed every piece I could by hand, treated infected LR with peroxide outside the tank & rinsed, and went to war on nutrients. No longer a problem.

I know Tech M is popular but it's not for me. If I don't know how it works I won't use it. My opinion only.

Remember though that any extra treatment of the frag adds stress. You might just let the algae disappear on its own.
