My wife took these pictures of my "freak" scolomia eating my sailfin tang. He didn't finish the whole thing but down to the bone on th first 1/3 before spitting him out. CRAZY!!!!

WOW! I never heard of that happening before. Poor tang, must have went out singing: Oh Scol-Oh-Mia!! La-Laaa...LA-LA!

I am curious, was the sailfin sick? Seems it should be fast enough and strong snough to get away from the scolomia. Did this happen after dark, where it snuck up on the sailfin sleeping and then stung it?

I have to say nature is way cool

LOL I AM SORRY FOR YOUR LOST BUT I JUST HAD THAT HAPPEN TO ME WITH MY YELLOW TANG & MY MANDERIAN HOWEVER I DID NOT GET TO SEE IT HAPPEN UNLIKE YOU

LOOK AT IT THIS WAY IT IS AN EXCUSE TO GO TO THE FISH STORE AND YOUR WIFE WONT YELL AT YOU MORE THEN LIKELY SHE FEELS BAD AS WELL SO GO MAKE YOUR SELF FEEL BETTER BY SPENDING SOME CASH ON YOUR TANK !

Ya sorry about your loss but NICE shots.... I would love to watch the coral actually catch the fish just like i would of loved to watch Tank Predators carpet anenome eat his fish.... not that i wish anyones fish to die or think its funny... just think it would amazing to watch the coral and anenome do their thing

nice coral though

I happened in broad daylight. He was not sick, no signs of ich or abnormal behavior.

I wonder if this in some part has anything to do with the Trigger's demise with such bizzare behavior?

Hopefully it won't happen again, but yes, a great excuse to go shopping!!!

I lost a good size copperband to a quadricolor neon green anenome a couple weeks ago I missed the eating but got to see it spit the remains out.

Its nature.. poor sail fin.. but things like that happen in nature all the time.. its the way things work .. in that aspect im glad you have it to show everyone cause its pretty neat to see.

Haha, guess I am alone, I understand it's nature, but our tanks aren't exactly "nature." It's not like there is an over population of salfin tangs in his tank, I understand about in the wild. Well now I know never to get that coral!
