Bad Day

First off, the pump on my skimmer won't work anymore for some reason. Next, The light on my qt tank falls in, now I've gotta replace that also as well as the pump. Next, my other Cardinal looks sick and isn't acting normal and nor if he eating. I don't think anything else can go wrong. Well here goes my money I was going to spend on corals:

Hope it doesn't. There goes my idea of getting a tang, muchrooms, and snails. I think I need to take $150 and get the rest of the equipment for my tank.

No free frag for him spelling it right! What is up with the light try it after it dries out might work. Take it apart and use a hair drier on it. Had the same thing happen years ago and it worked after drying out change the bulbs if you have spares once it dries it might work with different bulbs. (make sure its dry before plugging it in muchroom boy) good luck hope nothing more goes wrong for you.

Ill try that, but the light isn't good anyways and its like a year old so I mine as well just replace it with T-5s.

my coralife light fell in the tank once, once it dried out it was fine, and it was ON when it fell in, as long as the ballast did not get wet shouldn't be a problem. I also had a VHO fall in tank once while on and MAN did it shock me when I pulled it out, fish were fine but I couldn't feel my thumb for 2 days, still worked afterwards though.

Seriously though, the coralife falling in was a matter of the legs on the light not being tightened enough and one fell in when I bumped it. The VHO was just a crappy set up attatched to a two by four that I had when I first started my 20 gallon, it wasn't exactly stable and getting it to sit on the tank correctly was tricky, so when trying to get it positioned corectly after a water change it didn't sit right and fell in. I immediately went to pull it out without thinking to unplug it first. For those of you who have never been electricuted, I highly recommend you stay that way. It was indeed one of the most painful things that have ever happened to me. At first my chest hurt and I thought it had given me a heart attack, I felt seriously ill for the rest of the day and my hand was numb for at least 2 days as I recall. I was close to going to the emergency room when the feeling in my thumb came back.

Mine is suspended by 4 SS cables. If I bump it, it moves. Sunlight Supply Maristar; 2 250 DE MH and 2 54w T5 w/ fans and a remote magnetic blueline ballast.

Expensive, but expense pays for security.

Alot of electrictions are killed by lighting ballasts my dad is one at GM, He told me that its the number one killer of electritions at GM over the years. The problem is not only that it produces more power then is put in it but it can hold the charge long after it is unplugged. He wired a HM ballast for me a few years back and showed me that it holds alot of power for a long time. He pluged it in started the light unpluged it we left for the weekend. We came back 3 days later and he put his multi reader on it and it was still holding enough power to put someone on there butt if not stop there heart. The moral to the storie, be carefull with lighting ballasts they are more dangerous then most people think.

I would try to stay away from Rios.... I've heard nothing but horor stories about them. Was the pump you was using before that went out a Rio? If so, that shouldve been engough clue to not get another one again...

Rio pumps no longer have the problems that they used to have.

Well kinda a good day. Light started working again and im going to have to order a new pump but I will only have to pay for the shipping.

Andrew did you take the pump apart and clean it?

Or soak it in vinegar over night? Worked for me before.
