Bad Day

Yea, I cleaned it. Didn't help any and it wasn't that dirty. Well Since it's spring break im making some changes in my tank. First im moving my tomato clownfish into the 10 gallon drilled. Then cleaning out the 36 and making that the qt tank and moving the scopas tang into that tank from the 20. Then sell the 20 and get rid of that tank.

Or soak it in vinegar over night? Worked for me before.

Did you use straight vinegar or put water or anything also?

Rio pumps no longer have the problems that they used to have.

 Since when? News to me.

I do about 25% vinegar 75% water. Let it sit overnight. The corraline and calcium deposits will dissolve. Remove all rubber suction cups first or they will swell.

Since over a year ago.

Lots of people use to have trouble with rio pumps but I think they have since improved them and you see less and less threads about rios breaking.

The problem was they they used oil in the pumps and the would "blow up" and release the oil into the tank. Just ask Mike, he can tell you all about it.

Yeah the oil explosions are gone, but every rio I ever had started out fine and within a few months it would only restart about half the time, get jammed up and you would have to take it apart and try to manually restart it. For all the trouble and unreliability I'll spend the extra bit for a more reliable pump. Just my 2 cents.

I just think muchroom boy likes to spend his money.

I spend it faster then I make it. ;)

Heres some pictures I just took this morning for fun.

10 gallon with two green chromis and my female tomato. In May, I will have had her for 2 years. Plan on getting rid of the chromis since they are over 1'' and getting a goby. Now I've gotta get the sump running and add a return pump to the tank plus more LR.

They're not supposed to have the oil fill like they used to. As long as I keep them clean my Rios work flawlessly. Allow them to get too dirty or wear out the plastic spacers inside and they don't like to restart after a power drop. For the price if you do a little maintenance they're great.

Holy cow!!! I think we may be wearing off on you Andrew (I mean muchroom boy)!!!

Seriously make sure all the salt is out of that fixture that fell in the water. It will cause problems down the road.

I cleaned it out good. Should be fine now. The whole unit didn't fall in but about 3-4'' fell in of one end and that caused it to turn off.

As long as you made sure the bulb sockets were really clean that got in the water you should be good to go then:thumbsup:

What fish do you guys think I should get for my 36 fowlr? I thought about maybe a pair of perculas, pair of firefish, dwarf angel, and maybe a goby or something. Anyone else have ideas? Im going to add lacerock to it and let the tank sit for awhile and get the fish later.
