Bad month for me...

Wow, that sucks Charles!

My dino problem went away with three days of darkness with a heavy water change before and after.

I had a bad time around now last year - Acro Eating Flatworms and Monti Eating Nudibranchs. I had just finished building the stand, and the tank had been cycling for a couple of months.

I so wanted to just turn the tank into a fowlr tank and call it a day.

Take it slow, and it'll work out.

Dinos are one thing but pathogen acro necrosis possiblity is another.... if its not one thing its another with this hobby you know.. but it does put a warm feeling in a hurting heart to know other reefers are always there to offer help and free frags... as much pain this hobby offers at times, it also gives you great feelings when meeting new folks, friends and also shows good hearted people. ( This Is Reefing ) TIR

Got a mystery which is doing great and not being picked on by the blue sided...

Not to add salt to the wound, but I would get that mystery out sooner than later. They are worse than 6-lines, which is saying alot. 6-lines are known to kill fairy wrasses easily 3 times their sizes and mystery wrasses are just as bad once they get established. Your blue-side might be ok, since it was there first, but I honestly wouldn't want to bet money on that long term.. and I would also be very careful about any new fish you try to add once that mystery gets established, that or change your rockwork every time you want to add new fish (if you are just in love with the mystery wrasse).

I am sorry for your loses and feel your pain :(.

I agree....take a breather bro. I understand though when you see your tank constantly it's eating you up, but you have the "tools and talent" to get your tank back to norm. Good Luck!

Delsol sorry to hear that. Things like this seems to happen during this time of year when temp gets warmer. I think the combination of the temp change, fish death, coral death, your tank is full of nutrient. Instead of doing one large water change and shock your system, you might want to do weekly 10% water change for several months. This will help improve your tank water quality and your tank will recover. Just make sure the parameter matches closely to your tank water before doing the water changes. Hang in there

I hope you stick with it and cure your tank, dont give up.

Charles
Hang in there...I lost my whole tank a few years back and have learned a lot from my mistakes. I went out and got a 100gal after that and started SPS corals. I'm sure most of us will help you rebuild.Your welcome to have a frag each of my corals. :)

Charles,

dude.. i feel your pain.. Last weekend i got up early to start working on my tank..

Woke up at 8 am.. started working on my lighting.. installing 3 lumenarcs.. and cutting my canopy..this went on until 6 PM. Then I had to change water, clean the skimmer, replace the phosreactor media, replace Calcium reactor media and fix a bad pump on my Kalk reactor.. By the time i was all done, it was 2AM.. I was so exhausted.. I was ready to call it quits..

To top it all off.. i started noticing some of my corals didnt have it normal polyp extension.. Being the paranoid person that i am. I dip some of those corals.. and sure enough.. Freakin Flat worms... Clear transparent flat worm... a **** load was coming out of my TriColor bali and other corals.. now i had to dip all my frags and colonies..

After all that work on getting my equipment set up.. now i have another problem to deal with..

The only thing that made my day was actually witnessing my Percula clean a spot on a rock and laying eggs.. while the male clown fertilize it and chased everyone else away..

I guess we all have our good days and bad days.. hope things get better for you dude..

That's the attitude Wayland, I second that sentiment. Remember, Steve Austin started out as a mere man, and through tragedy became better, stronger, faster...... Not to mention the lovely Jamie Summers

Could we all cool off with the creative spelling to dodge the profanity censors? This is a family friendly forum.

Thanks.

Too add salt to the wound, with all the darkness going on in my tank ( To aid in killing Dinos ) , I turn on the lights for 20 mins while feeding the fish... noticed 1 of my colonies of zoo now with zoapox... How the heck is everything happening in one time... I really think this tank is about to crash. I was just so exhausted with it I left it till I get home this afternoon.. too tired with the tank and didn't feel like making RO and dipping the piece of zoo that time.. pretty much fed up.

:( sorry to hear that man. Could there be something wrong with the water (top off water, saltwater)??

I'm thinking more that its the RO filters going bad.. I'm going to order new filters before I make new RO again. I'm really getting fed up.

A polyp of your Rose Nebulas might make the pain go away... NAH just playing...." I had to say that to mess with you "
I just want to get everything to go back to how it was to make the pain go away....

thanks man, that just gives me more incentive.. It just really sux that I've spent major $$$ on a lot of stuff that I haven't even hooked up yet. New bulbs , new Cal reactor etc......:thumbdown

Now I've got ta spend more $$$ on new filters for the RO... GEEEEEEZZZZZZZZ

zoapox may go away on its own, but upon going it'll probably take down a few polyps. treat it with furan-2.

Oh yeah, I've been ready for em' bastards.. I've lost a couple of colonies with them previously.. I still have a bunch of packets of furan2 left over and ready for use...

I was just too sick of the tank to bother with it last night.

Today I'm going to battle with the tank again.

Charles if you need spare filter cartridges right away you can pick up from me, and replace when you get your new ones in this way you can still make new ro water.

Thanks Eileen, I just ordered some an hr ago so, it'll come next week. I just did a 50% water change on the 100gal on Sunday prior to doing the 7days of Darkenss with high pH to kill the Dinos... I can't really do anywater changes anyways till I get the new filters for my Filterguyz.biz RO unit. plus I'm going to disinfect my RO unit prior to use to rule out any bacteria that may have grown in the unit. ( Bleach ).

then while I'm doing that will be taking the zoo's and palys and doing some Furan dips... as for the montis.. if they go, they go.. I really can't doing anything for them. The Micro acro colony is pretty much gone. My green duncan with 4 babies are gone, pretty much slothed off the skeleton. The yellow still look ok and eating for now. Lost 2 RBTA from my QT. Fireside acro gone...

You the saying " when it rains , it pours " pretty damm straight there...

Charles,
i notice one of the zoa frags i got from you also have zoapox. i research a little and found the cure here:

http://zoaid.com/articles004.php

maybe you already know this but just in case. i don't know if i am going to dose Furan-2 but so far i only spot one single polyp that has zoapox, the rest are free of them. maybe i just isolate this single polyp and treat it.
