did a water changed, noticed my AOG frag missing, started poking around for it, couldn't find it, next thing I knew my rock work was completely taken down........still no AOG, then I messed around and never got the rock back the way I wanted, now it looks a mess and the currents from the power heads are all wrong irritating my flow sensitive corals....ugh....the AOG was just starting to bud out too :( there goes my best piece!

That's suck. Did you check the water that you took out??

I just did water change on my 100G too.. I took out a lot of aptasia in the sump though :D ..

dman, sorry to hear man.. yeah, small frags sometimes have a tendency of dissappearing.. was is stuck or loose on a frag plug?

Oh man...I can totally feel you. My turbo snail sometime knock frag over in the sand then the diamond goby burried it. I have to dig up the sand to find it and knocked the rock down onetime with the my rbta foot attached to it..freaked me out! Once the rocks collaped, I can never get back the way it was. So frustrated sometime.

Elite, you should save some aptasia for me...my peppermint shrimp just can't get enough of them:)

yeah, it was on a small LR chip, I got it at the swap. The frag was small, only two really small heads on it. It was a challenge to keep because everything ran over it, moved it around, etc. Looking back I should have epoxied it down :( I just wasn't sure where it wanted to be in my tank in terms of light, current etc. Dang.....

i hear you on that, i oftentimes am torn between epoxing down (half the time the exopy doesn't even stick anyway.. but thats another grip!) and leaving so its mobile.

one idea i use now is to have a frag dish (a soap dish from target, works great) with some eggcrate, then i can put my smaller frags there to check/feed them easier and keep them both more protected than on my lr and also more mobile. just a thought.. also helps when i accidentally frag anything as i can just throw them there until i get a chance to put them on plugs, etc..

I have had 3 different AOG frags dissapear on me now too.

I had one frag from Rommel at ultimate frags last year, that one dissapeared in my rockwork, but all my other zoos were ok. Then I had another frag, same deal, dissapeared. Then charles (cwolfus) recently gave me a frag of them, and BAM< GONE AGAIN? I don't get it, I put so much glue to keep them down on a frag plug, they're next to some super pink zoos too, and they dissapeared. Maybe they're known to not have a very good grip on whatever they're attached to.

But I don't think I'll try AOG's anymore, I'm just killing them =(

Maybe this is what makes them so expensive. They self destruct.....

I have been using frag disks for mine and no problems. They grow like weeds. I am already back up to 12 polyps after fragging down to 6 or 7 for the swap.

hmm, I picked up a frag of AOG's, but when I took all my frags home, I didn't see any AOG's. I got mine in a thin'ish plastic bag with black sharpee that only said: AOG on it.

I got a few red zoos from eileen and charles, and then one that looks to be purplish lavendar centered, kind of big... but no AOG's. Of course I didn't see the AOG when I took it out of the bag either, though I know there was a zoo polyp of some sort that came out of it.

I was hoping to try again at the AOG's, but I think I got a fake bag =(

Bummer!

My #1 wish for frag giving is that people would mount them before giving them. Especially with zoos and mushrooms which can take time to attach, a little foresight can go a long way. Now, I mount all my unattached frags before putting them in my main tank, and for those seemingly unmountable ones, i put them in my nano tank for a few months first, at least if i lose it in there it's easier to find.

I picked up a frag of your AOGs at the swap. I believe there were 3 polyps when I first received it...I'm already up to 9 polyps; fast growing indeed! Makes you wonder why they're so expensive....

last night after looking for my second blennie which I haven't seen for 2 days now, I found my AOG zoos. They're in a small hole. I'm going to try to recover them tonight. I'll have to remove my whole frag rack with all the corals on it, put it down, then grab the frag, and move it back. Should be fairly tidepool like effect, I think things will be ok =)

how clean do you keep your water for the zoos?

I noticed mine looked horrible after 4weeks of 25% weekly water changes, now I'm cutting back to try to get some higher nutrient
content. Or should I over feed on the corals and keep the same water change?

my water is clean enough for SPS, but they also get as much flow and more light.

but I do dose reef nutrition rotifeast every couple days at night... skimmers usually get it all out after a few hours though.
