Bad Reef Anemone?

Do your clowns have a different host in the tank? I have never had a problem with these anemones, but I have never had a clown try to use one as a host either.

I doubt very seriously if the clowns will try to use the rock anemone as a host when there are host species in the tank. They're not the clowns natural host species but they will do.

It is possible though, especially with captive bred clowns. They seem to just want to host something, regardless of what it is. I wouldn't be terribly worried though.

ok cool. The clowns that i have have been together for about 6 years now and i would hate to see something bad happen to one of them now.

Are rock anemones considered to be reef safe? They don't tend to gobble down fish and shrimps?

Any/all anemones can/will eat or sting fish, inverts, and corals.

I would personally not really say that any anemone is really completely reef safe.

well yes, this I understand. Some anemones are much, MUCH more prone to eat mobile critters than others though (i.e. pizza anemones, carpets, etc) and I wanted to know if rock anemones are also on the 'very risky' list.
