I am being given free livestock from a lady...
Tomorrow I will be heading up Springs to pick up some livestock from a lady who is unloading them on me. I have no idea what she has. Last I heard was that her husband had multiple 10 gallon tanks.

The chances are that I might have to unload a majority of them to Scott if he will take them. Scott, are you reading this??

I got my 29g drilled today but won't be able to put anything in it yet until it's plumbed and thanks to a sweet gentleman, Todd who said he would do some shopping for plumbing and plumb the 29g for me tomorrow while I'm gone to Springs. I'm in love with him!
If I am going to keep any of the livestock, I will be putting them in my 20L. I'm mixing salt in 20L right now. The water is 90 already!! Dang, the car is really hot that it heated RO quite quickly. It should cool down soon enough. Oh, its 85 now. See, that was soon enough!

Can't you tell that I'm excited that I'm finally getting my feet wet in salt world?
I think my brain just fried... I can't think of what I need to do first… This or that. O' Crap... laundry needs to be done. I'm off but I'll be back to post lots of pictures to make this at least somewhat interesting progress thread

Tim, what type of livestock are you interested in? The lady says she has about 12 fish and some LR. I have no idea what they are.

The lady said she doesn't want to look at the tanks at all and she doesn't know if they all will be still alive if I wait until upcoming weekend so that's why I'm coming up tomorrow. I don't know how well her husband was able to take care of the SW tanks.

This is going to be interesting/awkward for me when I show up tomorrow evening.

Here's some pictures to enchance this thread
Some notes... The 29g will have gray coast and I'm using Reef Crystals for salt mix. 20L is almost up to proper SG level.
Now on to the photos.

The Sump. The PVC portion will be cut to make it shorter and capped or whatever works better as long the sump will fit inside my 29g stand.

The LR and Bulkheads. These LR was from the group buy at Marco Rock. I do have other LR in 5g bucket, all alive!!

Looks like a pretty awesome setup so far. The stand and canopy look really good. I am building a stand for mine next week.

I am willing to pay for the coral as well then you would have some extra money to put towards your tank if you need. Right now I have some mushrooms and I have a whole LR that seems to be thriving with new feather dusters. I wanted like two or so but not as many as I am seeing sprout. LOL Might be able to frag you a feather duster in the near future.

Lookin good, FYI there is no cure for the REEF VIRUS!!! Also quick question, Ill be heading off to college here in a couple yrs, CU or CSU, and I was wondering, if you are in a dorm, the regulations on saltwater tanks? Specifically if theyre allowed, 1, and 2, if there is a size limit, other than what you can do with space or your time.

I have my 12G in my dorm. I noticed this year they changed the tank size to 5 gallons, but I purchased this before I got this and last year it was a 10 gallon limit. The 12 doesn't look all the bigger than a 10. I just get water from Pet Paradise for like 75 cents a gallon.

Yes, there is a closed loop on this 29g

Yesterday I went up to Springs to pick up the fish and only found that it was a 55gal with all fish in it instead of multiple tanks. The lady said the number have been dwindling so her husband put it all in one tank. This tank's condition wasn't the greatest!! There were a dead urchin rotting away in that tank. O GOD! It rank sky-high!! I also was surprised that the tank did not break apart (no center brace and it was bowing out slightly) or have an electrical fire. I'm only glad to be there when I was however I wished I could have been there much sooner to collect some more fish before they died off.

The occupations were 3 different type of damsels with only one being prettiest (black and white), 4 columbia sharks (I KNOW!!), 2 clarkii clowns, 1 tomato clown and Pink Spotted Watchman Goby.

I kept the clarkii clowns, tomato clown and the goby. The tomato clown will have to go eventually. It is only 1 inch right now. I'm still debating on the clarkii. I think I might prefer to go with a clownfish that is smaller. I'd need some of your input on the clarkii clownfish.
As for the goby, I would love to keep it if this one would actually do ok in my small tank?
No matter, they all can go if necessary.

Tank filled! Closed loop in middle is running in this one.

Fish acclimating. The tank was freakin hot, near 90!! Had to cool it as much as I can during acclimating. The fish are doing ok this morning that I can see though.

More LR! They had some really nice, cool pieces!! I might get rid of some LR that isn't that cool so I still can put in some of my macro rocks in there down the road.

You can pick up a large welders stainless steel wire brush and really give these rocks a scrubbing. They will look 100 times better and you can get all the old gunk off.

Thanks for the tip, where do you think I can find one?

I plan on playing with the rocks tonight to see how I can have it set up. Right now its just sitting there.

Any input about the goby?
I will find a different type of clowns afterall. I've been doubling check on these species and found that the clowns I have sure does get on large side to my liking.

I'd try Lowes or Homedepot in the tool dept. Also, any welding supply store will have one.

As for the goby, just make sure you have a good substrate, they like to dig. Make sure you place your rock BEFORE you do the sand or the goby may dig and cause a rock slide. You can also put the sand in and then twist the rock till it is solidly placed.

That goby is good, they seem to be very hardy and great for a reef tank. Mine doesn't go out and sift the sand too much anymore, he's a little bit territorial but not really aggressive towards the other fish. I've had that thing forever.

Dang that first picture of Todd scare's me! He look's like he's trying to kill something LOL.

Now about the temp........... 90? that's crazy high, why did it get so hot? That won't be good if you ever get corals, they will want to die at that temp.
