Ballast not firing bulb

I have a 250 watt Ice Cap ballast that is about 1 1/2 years old. It was working fine Friday but come Saturday it couldn't even fire the bulb. I was wondering if this means the ballast is dying or what? I will try and fire the bulb but the bulb doesn't get all the way lite. The bulb is two weeks old and I don't have any problems with the other ballast and bulbs.

I purchased the bulbs from hobbylighting on eBay.

I thought IceCap ballasts were suppose to be the $hit...

Any help would be good help.

Yeah the bulb fires right up on a different ballast. I also tried switching the ballast to fire a different bulb and it does the same thing. It wants to fire up but not all the way.

I would wait for others to reply but it does sound like the ballast is going out. and I agree icecap is a great ballast, I run 2 - 250's and a ic440 and ic660 and love them.

^^ Yup. Ballast is done for. They do get old. I'll agree that 1.5 years is a bit early for death, but it prolly just had some bad electronics in it.

My IceCap ballast does the same thing! I couldn't put it on a timer! 80% of the time it wouldn't fire the bulb on the 1st try but always got it on the 2nd try. I bet our Serial #'s are close?
