Hello everyone, I went into the Local Pet Shop and purchased a Bamboo Banded Cat Shark egg since I have always wanted a shark. Does anyone know what is the spawning period until it hatches and what should I do to make the egg more comfortable.

no...he is kinda in the right place haha....that 55 wont last long for you. I'm not gunna answer that question to FORCE you to buy scott Michaels "Sharks and Rays". Best of luck!!!

I live in New York if someone can hide a tiger in the apartment my apartment I can have a aquarium. LOL Their allowed plus the apartments in New York are built like prisons.

So should I just get the maximum tank size that I can get which is 210 gallons? I'm trying to keep from going into getting an acrylic tank and breaking my pocket since I'm just a college student.

good luck with it, I had a couple and they were a blast but they can be a bit of work. Dont take it to heart but some folks really get up in arms about owning one. I myself will never own one again. Keep us posted..

You can go with what ever size you want in glass. Unless you are going with AGA. In that case yes 210gl is as big as you can get.

I dont recommend anything below 250 gallon for a catshark (at least for the entirety of its life). The dimensions would preferably be wider and longer, rather than tall. This will give them plenty of space to move when they want to. Granted, these sharks are not the most active (not as inactive as the smaller wobbegong species), but it is still a good idea to provide a capacious tank to accomodate them.

Hatching is very highly temp dependant. They will hatch sooner with warmer temps. You cant know when it will hatch if you dont know when the egg was laid. Average hatch time is 138 to 160 days. I highly reccommend the sharks and rays book my scott michael.

Evolust, I will definitely pick up the book that you recommended. I didn't know it would take that long for this little guy to hatch. Is their an average size of the egg before hatching or is it entirely temperature dependant because if my water temp is to high I don't want the little one prematurely developing.
