Bandit Angel Bloated

Blue Hawaii

Hello everyone,

I have purchased an adult bandit angel from my LFS. He has been in my tank for a few days and his stomach is quite bloated. After searching online I have come across some links saying that they don't really decompress properly.

I read on and see that when a fish bloats it puts pressure on internal organs. What can I do now to treat him now? Is there any medication I can treat him with to prevent issues with his internal organs? I see that I can feed him a pea for bloating issues but will this work?

He is swimming fine just a bit unbalanced at times.

Can you post a picture? How long was it at the LFS? Was it eating there or now? They have unusual swimming behaviors, like all deep water angels and some other large angels. If it is bloat a pea or the other option is a cath in the anus

I am at work now. Will try and get one when I get home. About 2 weeks. They said he was but never actually saw him eating. Stomach is bulging a bit.

Will a pea work if there was a decompression issue? If there is a lot of gas in the swim bladder will that be alleviated by feeding him a pea?

Bloating and swim bladder issue (caused by improper decompression etc) are 2 different things. If you can post a video of the fish swimming then we can judge if she has a swim bladder issue or not.
Peas won't help with swim bladder issue. Beside, if she is not eating then no way you can force feed her peas.

Until I can post a picture. What options are there? If its a swim bladder issue how is that resolved? If it is a bloating issue I have seen things like peas and epsom salts apparently work?

The opinions start of what to do once you post a picture. Guessing what is wrong could be problematic at the least. Speculation is NEVER a good thing.

I wish you luck with your angel and these two guy's talking with you know these fish well. Good luck.
