Bangaii holding fry too long?

My bangaiis mated in Mar 30th. It's the 2nd time they have in my tank (I acquired them as a breeding pair) and I was expecting him to spit the fry out 29 days later -as he did the 1st time.

It's now day 33 and he still appears to be holding some fry. I'm starting to get worried. Has anyone else had this happen? How long should I leave him before I attempt to intervene?

Gah, he'a still not eating...! :(

I've tried chasing him around a bit, but I can't catch him. Mouth seems to have gone down a little, he can shut it now at least, but his lower jaw is still puffed out.

Can they get lock-jaw after holding the fry for so long? Could the fem have knocked him up again straight away?

Good news everyone!! When I came down this morning he was looking normal and patrolling the front of the tank hungrily! :D

He ate his fill. Going to fed a few times a day to fatten him up again.

I wonder what happened to make him hold the fry for so long? It ended up being 5 weeks. Crazy fish!
