Banggai Cardinal?

Hi guys,
My male Bangai Cardinal has eggs in his mouth. Is it ok for me to work on the tank (WC, clean algae....)? I don't want to freak him out, which could cause him to spit out the eggs (according to what I've read). Please give me any advises as I'm very new to breeding fish ..

The tank is 40G breeder. I have a pair of clown and a pair of Banggai..

yes--clean your tank as needed, also do water changes. They fish should be fine, unless you approach him and chase him around the tank, they are quite protective of the eggs.

happens frequently, no worries he'll carry again.
However you might want to do a google search for ex vivo culture of banggais (meaning collect the eggs and raise them in a egg tumbler outside the male)

yeah I did some reading. Don't you have to wait for couple weeks before safely stripping the eggs?

weeks.... not really.
A few folks have stripped at least a few days after spawning , but the most success has been stripping after a week or so.

Yeah mine only held the eggs for 1 day. Hopefully he doesn't do that again next time. If he does, I might have to separate the two fish into another tank or something.. Thanks!
