Banggai Growout?

I just noticed that my male banggai is carrying his first spawn. Even though I do not expect this spawn to survive, I would like to prepare so I am able to raise subsequent spawns. I think I have the initial plans worked out, but I have a few questions about a growout system for the fry.

I am planning on doing the first 2-3 weeks in the tank, using a large breeder net to contain the fry and a few fake urchins and plastic plants for hiding. After that is where I'm having some issues.

I have a spare 20L that I was planning on using as the "growout" tank after the initial few weeks, but I'm not positive how to filter it. At 2-3 weeks would the babies be able to deal with the flow from a turned down Aquaclear 70? I would much rather use that than a sponge filter if possible, but I don't want to accidently kill babies due to being sucked into the intake (even though I'm going to cover it) or by getting beaten by too much flow.

For the first couple of weeks your feeding bbs so you don't want a filter. Use a foam sponge over the filter intake & judge it from their. Banggai are big & tuff at birth so good luck.

I raised mine in a 12 gallon nano, with a maxi-jet 400 turned down and a piece of filter foam on the surface skimmer. The only problems I had was the lights, when they would come on they would freak out.I lost several to sfs( sudden fright syndrome).I am on my 5th batch now.Good luck.
