Bare bottom tanks with haddoni?

I tried it the nem did not appear to be "happy" and moved around a bit, I also had a NO3 problem when the tank was bb and so added a 3 inch sand bed after two large water changes and a month of sand the nem has not moved looks really healty and the trates are down to 2.5 ppm.

Try pointing the powerheads to the surface it gives a nice effect and stops sand disturbance.
leave it be dont tinker unless absoloubtly nessesary particularly if the nem is stable.
Havent you just had success with a green haddons after a couple of failiures?
if it aint broke dont fix it.

A former LFS near me had a green haddoni in it's bb system for a couple of years before the store close. It did fine without sand.
It was also in the same spot every time I visited the store.

I have mine in a barebottom tank, however it climbed up to a rock and stick its bottom to the rock instead (as suppose to the glass bare bottom).

Also had my friend's stick its foot in between the rock & the bottom. His did okay but he never feed it for 4 yrs :)

Put a coarse layer of coral over the area most affected by the current.

i hear ya

i think i need to think more about all this, and whether i want to start a new BB tank and keep what i have as a species tank. with the sand.

I have never heard of long term success stories involving a bare bottom tank with Haddonis. Not to mention, you will never come across a Haddoni in the wild with their foot exposed. Its best to just keep the sand and imitate its enviroment. I agreen with adtravels, if it is not broken, don't fix it.

phishy held the haddoni i got in a ice creem tub with larger rubble pieces in it and it was happy with that setup.

I was just wondering why you want a bare bottom tank? Your tank looks great with sand so what caused you to change your mind?
