Yes, you can remove the sandbed a little at a time, I would do it over several weeks. If you notice any stress to your tank I would stop and let the tank rest for a few days.

I will transfer it(sand) to my fuge/sump
 
Yeah bare bottom it is .Now do softies or other corals attach to the bottom with glue ,should I run stronger current on the bottom,to kick up debris.Any other pointers before I get started .What about all the snails that will be picked up with the sand,how do you guys seperate them
 
Like the sand. Just have to get the right cleaning crew and a little maintenance once in a while. Have you ever been to a sandless beach? Yuck!!

Yeah I hear ya,,,,,, have you ever seen fish and corals on the beach,,,,,:confused:
