Basement Fish Room Design

I'm in the lucky (or is it unlucky?) position of getting to move into a 2-year long "temporary" housing situation. This house has a completely unfinished basement and furnace room. I currently run a remote sump on the same level as my 210 gallon tank, and it has been unquestionably better than having the sump and equipment under the tank. In the new house, I will locate the fish room in the basement with the tank on the main level. I may also be incorporating an additional 200 gallon tank from the main level into my system.

So I'm asking all of you folks who have 'larger' fish rooms and remote sumps for your help. I'd love to see pictures of how you have arranged your tanks and equipment, and how it is all plumbed together.

Thanks!

hi phillyfishguy,

Can you tell me if you painted your walls or do any waterproofing otherwise. I am moving into our first house in a couple of months and the deal with the wife is, I get the basement and she gets everything else. I'm debating between some sort of waterproof paint or FRP board.

Any thoughts?

Here is mine... still being worked on but nearly done.

-I am adding a 20 gallon refugium on the left.
-Also moving a 29g, 10g, and 5g for QT and hospital use into the space.
-I may add a larger frag grow out system in the future, but the refugium will probably serve as a small frag tank.

Two displays plumbed in. A 125g 6' (nearly ready for water), and a 40 Breeder (now cycling). The 125 drains into a 20L which has a skimmer plumbed in. That then drains to a 40B sump with return. The return splits off, to feed the two displays. The 40B display drains directly into the 40B sump, rather than the 20L.

I have two barrels for water mixing and such outside of this space. Still figuring out what to do with that.

Here is a pic of my basement setup, sorry for the poor photo qaulity. I really like having all of this removed from my display, quiter and easier to maintain.
