Basement Remodel... Ohh & a 320+ Gallon - 96x30x26 In-Wall SPS Tank

Really nice pieces, but the lack of light voids the frag tank option and the sand and frags void the qt tank option. I would leave it bare bottom with some pvc pieces, that way you can bleach everything between fish.

I understand your points as they are good ones. But the intention for this tank was to QT SPS so that I can inspect for red bugs AEFW over a period of a few days without having to rush to put them in to my main tank. Also, how can you sustain a healthy population of nitrating bacteria in a tank with nothing in it and expect to keep new fish alive for 2+ weeks in quarantine? Am I missing something and I'm not in anyway trying to be an @ss here.

Thanks for following.

Ah my bad, didn't realize it was a frag qt, thought it was for fish. I keep a few 8 inch by 3 or 4 inch rectangles of filter media in my dt sump, as well as keep the qt running with an airstone. Then depending on the size or amount of fish I am quarantining I can add one or more filter pads from the sump. This along with water tests and changes gets me by for a few weeks in qt.

Guys,

Finally got around to posting videos of the tank and fish room.
Enjoy and let me know what you think?

Please take the quarter out of the dryer.

I bet the fish were like "WHERE DID THE LIGHT GO" hahahaha

How is the coil heater going?

How far is the sink from there to clean out the skimmer?

Does the vent behnd the lights blow onto the tank also, to cause a lowering of the tank temp? (or raising)

The heater is working great. No regrets about getting it done. Keeps my temp at a steady 77.1 all day long without any swings.

The sink is 20 feet away at the entry into the room. No issues cleaning as I drain it first then remove it and move it to the sink.

The vent is actually a cold return which is shut.

Thanks for following along.

Ahhh.

Look forward to other videos.

I enjoy seeing how the engine works in most systems.

Thanks for sharing!

I think there are some rules about keeping your fish room too clean and organized. :-)

You have done an amazing job, thanks for posting the videos.

FYI. There was a guy in another thread posting about taking photos and videos under 20K lights. He uses a red filter over the lens and it takes out the blue in the video and the video comes out nice and clear. He sent me some of the filters and they work great.

Impressive, Sir!

Thanks guys.

Sorry... it has been a while since I posted. I will get some updated shots and info in the next few days. I acquired a lot of corals and fish in the last 2 months and making some changes...

My main return pump went out last night (Diablo DC 10500). It's kind of a **** off since its only been running for 5 months. I currently have the other DC running the tank and skimmer only (normally just runs the skimmer and reactors). Its keeping up OK and should be fine until I get this one replaced (Warranty). I sure am glad that I plumbed them in parallel so that they can be redundant.

Updates soon...

Awesome man really just awesome!

Im starting a 300build this summer this is going to give me a ton of ideas.

I have four DC 10500 and one of the pump's power/transformer went out after about 4 months as well. Thought it was the pump and fortunately had another power supply unit.. It is terrible to buy pumps that crap out on you in our hobby..
Awesome setup and magnificently arranged fish room Good Luck

Thanks guys.

Believe it or not I still haven't received anything back from Reefspecialy.com where I bought the pumps and or Reefoctopus (Corolife) about sending it in for warrant. I'm getting a little upset here and don't know where else to turn.

Wow, very well organized & awesome tank you have there! So happy to see someone right around the block too..(am in Rochester Hills too...maybe not really right around the block! but it sure feels that way)

and you need any help, give me a shout! will be more than happy to help.

Looking forward to see the tank mature :)

I ended up buying a spare pump to have on the side in case of another brkdwn with the DC10500. Too much invested in the tank to loose it for another pump failure . I also have two pumps in parallel for the DT. That is very helpful in case of another failure. A third pump feeds the skimmer (too powerful for that application by itself) and a fourth feeding the refuge & frag tank. If need be I can buy a cheaper pump for the skimmer and use that pump for any possible future failures to the DT pumps. Sharing my thoughts hope it is helpful ..
