what type of battery backup should i use with a 6155. Would a computer UPS work? I know Tunze carry's some kind of fuse or something to connect it but i am not sure what type a battery to connect it to.

You can use a UPS, it is less efficient as it is converting DC to AC and the pump power supply is changing that back to DC and you have losses at every step. Our solution would be more efficient, it is the 6105.500 Safety Connector and you would just use a battery like this one (which is essentially what is in a UPS) and a small charger to keep the battery charged-

This battery would run the pump for 4 hours, it will run at half power since it is only 12V instead of 24V.

Correct, roughly every 2 Amp hours will run the pump one hour. Just keep in mind though that much past 24hours is relatively pointless as temperature and other issues will lead to the tanks demise so there is no reason for excess, I would stick with a battery of the type I posted and up to 36 amp hour is a common size and could run the pump roughly 18 hours. You can further extend run time with a solar panel charger so during daylight hours the battery is recharged, if you are near a window or have some easy way to run a wire to a small solar panel.
