How to update Euroquatics A1/A1P

My new tank will be a 120 gallon. 4'x2'x2' and of course all SPS. I am interested in these lights. I remember reading about them years ago and the price is hard to beat. How many would you recommend for full coverage on this size of tank?

I am impatient and just purchased 5 of them. If you think I need more then let me know. :)

When I upgrade to the 120, I'm going to start out with 3 or 4 of the A1s over the tank (which will also be primarily SPS). I have 7 A1s total so, I can always add more if I need to.

Did you buy them from the eBay seller mentioned in this thread? I ask because onn February 6, I checked he had sold out. Wondering if there is another source for these that I'm not aware of? Oh, wait, I just checked again and he now has 3 in stock????

Yes. He had eight and I just ordered 5. Don't touch those 3! I might need them. :ROFLMAO:

I bet he took down the listing to ensure the inventory count is correct

Put a 3rd fixture over the tank (mounted perpendicular instead of parallel) and no more shading.

Looks good! I think I am covered if I go a 120 but do you think 6 would be enough to cover a 6x2x2 180?

Also, how is the color blending? Do the whites give a good balance to the blues or is there a more purple look?

For SPS, I think 6 on a 120 would be fine. If you’re going to 180, you might want to add a couple more fixtures. But, that’s just based on my limited experience and a max output of 60%.

As far as blending and color, that’s up to the user. I followed what @kharmaguru suggested. I adjusted the color channels to get a color I liked, then used the intensity to ramp up/down for sunrise, peak output, and ramp down. I’m currently at a 10–12K look.

Ok. I will think about it but might pick up the other two to have a total of 8 lights.

I was wondering about the color because in your picture it looks a little purple to me. LEDs will do that to pictures, though, and that is not what it looks like in person. Just curious. I would like a more blue/white look.

I was thinking you did a good job of matching a halide color in that photo. What percentages did you settle on?
Warm White 65%
Cool White 65%
Blue 80%
Royal Blue 80%
UV 70%

I ramp up to 60% intensity at 12:30, then 65% at 15:30 and at 18:30 start ramping down.

Yeah, it's a bit more white than the picture indicates.

Here’s some pics with filters on, first is 15k filter then 20k. In person, it looks close to the 15k filter.

Looking good George! I thought the color on these leds looked good to my eyes as well when I tested them. I prefer the 12-15k look though so some people may like more blue.

Looks good! My phone does the same with leds. It's blue/white to the eye but purple in the pictures.

I just picked up two more. I will have a total of eight, which should hopefully do the trick.
