Beautiful red carpet at atlantis

it's the rbta that i want. But even with ming wei's generous discount, it's too much for my blood. It's gorgeous though =(

Has anyone actually seen their infamous RBTA's in person? If so how did they look?
it would have to do something special for me to prepay 500 bucks.

this is the bta on their website.

That is the one I am talking about. I have been seeing so-called odd color morph RBTA's a lot lately and was wondering if this was as impressive in person as it is in the pic.

My LFS got a bunch of green base/red tentacled RBTA's recently (with varying degrees of speckling like that). They want about $120 for them, which I thought was steep.

i have never seen a spekled look like the one in the picture just not as nice as this one.. but close many times. i like the orange in it. just not sure it can be worth 500 a clone not even for the origional bta.

I have been desperately looking for the so called flame RBTA and I am thinking that this is it but there seem to be different variants of those as well. I also have to agree that the price seems steep given how quickly these anemones clone.

Atlantis tends to find something unique, give it a "name" and then charge accordingly for frags. It works pretty well for them.

In the case of this anemone, large anemones tend to not clone themselves very often. It wouldn't surprize me that they have to cut the anemone to provide clones. If that is the case, they are risking the health of their stock everytime they fill an order. Still, $500 is a bit steep.
It may be a case where they really don't want to frag it, but hey, we'll try it again if you pay us $500. :D

Thanks for clearing this up. I honestly never knew this and have been wondering why my big RBTA has not split in the since I got it 4 months ago.

I actually know the owner of Atlantis and frequent his store. I have seen the nems you are talking about. They look cool in person but the ones I really like are the roses he gets from a local guy who has a large mother that gives out 4-5 a month. These are very nice tank raised roses that look awesome. If anyone has questions pm me, like I said I go there a few times a week. Oh and he has a red carpet in his show tank at the store that is insane red compaired to the one for sale.

Atlantis got some gorgeous carpets. However they do lousy when shipped. I bought two from Ming and both died after a week or two. If you live local you should def pick them up. I'd think twice about shipping them.

I wish people would post anemones by their names instead of using generic terms like "red carpet" which could refer to any one of a number of species. Some are rare, others less so.

Thats the one in his show tank he uses for growing his sps. he also has another one that looks less red but could be b/c its in a cube without MH/VHO like that one has.
