The last one (Yasha Gobies) was tank lighting from the opposite side of the room (no flash, 300mm lens).
The rest were a combo of tank lighting and my sb-400 flash, hand held, next to my lens and the tank glass. My focal distance is <5cm so I have to hold the flash until I make a bracket to put it where I want it.
You have a nice collection of Zoas. How about posting a FTS? The photos are great. I hardly realize the complex patterns and color combos in the corals until you see nice macros like yours.
I would post a shot but there isn't much to see to be honest. All the zoas are sitting on the tank bottom right now unmounted and the SPS I have are sitting on the sand. The tank has just recovered after a chiller mishap this summer. So while I muster up the energy to get glueing, I take macros.
Thanks for the compliment.
I'll see what other shots I can put up that I took tonight.
