Anyone been to Eddies lately? I stopped by tonight and saw the coolest little fish. It was a red angler only about 1/4" big. Anyone know anything about these fish? Very neat looking fish.

yeah they get them tiny sometimes....were they asking for over 80$ for it? ussually they doas reds are very much wanted. it will grow to a larger size. i have a shaggy angler. they need very specific care and require a species tank as they eat anythink that fits in its mouth . anglers are aggressive...require some what low flow and low light. they also have strict requirments for feeding. most want live food as this encourage the lure to be active . you can trick them with frozen food with a stick. cool fish but require thier own tank as they are not reef safe ...coral safe they are but will eat crabs snals etc......

I picked up a pleasant surprise, there, the other day. I picked out a rather dull colored but healthy midas blenny. When I got him home under the halides I found out that he isn't dull at all, he's purple. Very cool fish

The sad part is, my prop tank doesnt even look like I took a bunch over there :o

I wish my zoo's would grow like that!

Anyone else see the Tang with MHLLE in the softy/shroom tank? Last month when I was there I noticed a small spot starting behind both eyes. The other day when I walked in there I noticed it had gotten quite a bit worse. The spots now being large behind the eyes and even starting to spread down the lateral line. I think its a Regal tang, not quite sure though, only really looked at the erosion and immediatly thought of Linda. :D I told Linda about this guy the other night, so maybe that big heart of hers is going to scoop this guy up and rehab him, like she has done so well with many other hurtin fishies! Even if not, Eddie's really should do something with this fish as its clearly getting worse in there system. I'm really surprised they even have the fish out in the diplay tanks being as bad as it is. If I knew I could keep a regal without it bullying the rest of my lil community fish or my yellow tang, I would scoop him up and try to rehab him myself. I just hope Eddie's has more common sense than to let this poor fish just rot away in there system, like it has been already. :mad2:

A couple of their fish looked in rough shape. There were two hippo tangs that both looked about dead and their clown gobies were next in line at the pearly gates!

Blue Hippo Tangs = Regal Tangs :)

I think the tang in the shroom tank was striped if I remember correctly (prolly not) :)

The one in the Zoo/ softy tank all you speak of is the purple tang? Its been there and like that for sometime. The one i am thinking of hasn't been for sale. Not sure why they haven't removed it to the back room for treatment - QT

It's a purple tang and they said it would be hard to catch him in the tank that he is in. If they are able to catch him he will be coming to my house.

I am getting a fishy-in need tomorrow from them...I will post a photo after I get him :)

The tang Krazy K and I are talking about isnt a purple tang. It's a sailfin tang and it looks almost identical to the one Linda is already rehabing. The erosion may be a bit worse than the one Linda has though. It started off looking the same, with just spots behind the eyes. Last visit to Eddie's it appeared to be spreading at a rather fast pace down the lateral line. If you walk into Eddie's fish room....if you kept walking straight you would run directly into the tank I'm talking about. It's the upper of the 2 large tanks to the left of the Lettuce nudi's tank. That fish should be rather easy to get out of the tank being its shallow and there isnt a whole lot of big rocks for it to hide in. I dunno why I got it confused and called it a regal tang, thats the tang newbieness coming out in me! I was trying to ID the tang yesterday from pics, but couldnt find any that looked exactly like it....but I found the one from Linda's thread a while back and the fish I'm speaking of looks identical to it. This pic.... (This is Linda's fish, not the one from Eddie's)

I stopped by the other day while I was in town. Always cool to check out the LFS. Seems like Eddie's is getting more coral and reef-type stuff each time I stop by. Saw some nice acros and some other interesting stuff. Still isnt like anything in the NYC or Chicago burbs of course.

Hey Dan,
Brianna and I looked everywhere for a sailfin tank that you speak of. This is a purple tang with MHLLE that is in the upper tank that is directly in front of you when you walk into the fish room.
It came in this way. It seems like it would be very hard to catch him. They do call me if there a fish that I could possibly help. Tomorrow I'm picking up a large fish that needs some TLC for my 180.

If you get a chance to stop in there and see if you can find the sailfin...point him out to staff if you do locate him.

Did you guys happen to see that they had Garibaldi there.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't they from the Kelp forest? I'm fairly sure that the adults are rather aggressive, not to mention huge.
