Ok so got the new tank as most know. Its a 4x2x2 120gal. Acrylic tank. I thought the stand and tank was in great shape but his living room much have been dark lol. So had to paint the stand and canopy after a lot of sanding.

After getting all the coriline off the tank I noticed a lot. More scratchs then I would like so
Tomorrow going to go get some 2000 grit sand paper and try wet sanding out some scratches. This will be my first time doing this if u have any tips?

Also bleached and muriatic acid to all the live rock from the new tank

Also started on the remodel for the led setup that was over my 65gal now will work over the new 120.

you have been busy, think last i seen ya, you and reef_queen were out there painting the canopy , and tell you what, more work than i'd liek to handle on any weekend lol. and having seen the canopy it was looking good, you guys were liek professionals out there with sandpaper, paintgun, compressor, tarp! but in the end, it's gonna be one hell of a display worthy of a photo-op in a fish magazine. keep that drive and motivation up, it's gonna be one dope tank!

Using 2000 grit is going to scuff the acrylic and give it a matt finish. The tank will need to be polished afterwards.

That is correct....just straight up using 2000 grit will most likely make things worse. From my understanding, the proper way to do it is to start with a rougher grit and work your way up to the finest grit you can get. THEN you work with polishing compounds....I don't think it is a one grit job and done...

I hear u r the acyrlic person to talk to. I was watching u tube vids on this as I have never done it before. I don't want to make it worse, and I want it to come out perfect. What do u recommend? Is the best way to do this?

Thanks so much I hope it comes out great at the end.
 
Novus is good but it wont do anything for the scratches that stand out. 3 is for heavy scratches but by heavy they mean the ones you can just see. You may have good luck with it but the bigger scratches will need different grits of paper and then polishing.

I think it did ok. Not amazing but good prodects. Right or wrong I did the entire tank with 3 then 2 then 1
 
US plastics is in south Tampa. they have everything for acrylic.
Get a good buffing wheel, cuz you'll never get the Novus 1, 2, and 3 done by hand.
The good thing about acrylic is that if sanded and buffed right, it can look just like new.
I did a 120 3 yrs ago and it took over 40 hrs, but turned out fantastic. Good luck!

Ok rock that was bleached and acid treated has been in bucket w ro water now for 3 days. Also w/prime in water to remove any other chlorine or suck that may be in the rock still. Added changed out 100% of the water today it was pretty stinky. Will keep doing that till water stays cleaner then will add to the tank!!!

Also added amount of new salt water that I will need to have a full tank after moving over stuff from old tank. Also got new hindges and added the doors today!!!
