Before (t-5 9 bulbs)/After MH t5 combo pics

Wow you really didn't have the right combo of T5's...you could have achieved the same blue look just by switching out a few of your bulbs. I'm a halide guy myself though as well.

Wow... Terrible... :( And I'm not even going to pepper that with an uncomfortable "LOL" at the end like others have done... It's just not right to keep a vlamingi that size in a tank that size.

I'm not going to give you a break. It is my opinion that it is unacceptable to house that type of fish in that small of a tank. Sorry if you don't like to hear that. I had a vlamingi in my old 240 gallon tank for years. She outgrew it eventually, and she was 15" long at the time I had to find her a new home. I think it's irresponsible to keep them in tanks that are too small to meet their swimming needs. A 48" long tank is not big enough for a vlamingi that size.

You said you knew someone was going to make a tang police comment. So obviously you either A) know the fish is too big for the tank, or B) you have heard from people before that the fish is too big for the tank.

So why are you so put off to hear me say exactly what you were expecting to hear?

I realize the fish is not going to live in the tank its entire life but im not even going to entertain the idea that it is too big now. and your 240 was probably either 96 or 72 inches long with a 15" fish and my fish is less than half that by far and my tank is either equal to or greater than half the size of your tank.

and im put off by the way you talk to me in your first post like show some respect

My vlamingi was "confiscated" from someone during a maintenance call who had it in a 75 gallon tank, and at the time, my tank was the largest in Tucson that the guy that took the vlamingi knew of. He asked me if I would take the fish because he didn't know what else to do with it and didn't know of anyone with a larger tank than mine. Then he built a shark pond in his store large enough to accommodate my vlamingi, and she went back to him to live in the shark pond. Believe me, I did not buy a vlamingi that size for my tank, nor would she have been able to get by in my tank for much longer.

okay well i still dont think the fish is too big yet but i have been looking into other places to bring him. i just dont wanna drop this fish off anywhere. believe me I know what im doing so you dont have to lecture me

I think you are mistaking educating you for lecturing you. No one is lecturing you.

and now Im back to biting my tongue. Best wishes for your system. The lights look good by the way.

okay cool im so sorry for misunderstanding your guys wealth of knowledge, regardless of the tone it was presented in. and there is of course no sarcasm intended.

Zoanthid your tank looks way better with the new lighting system! When the time comes that you feel your vlamingi has outgrown your tank and want to sell him, let me know.
