My bellus angel is not using one side for breathing today. Was surely fine last night, and I didnt notice it this morning. Tonight as I got home from work I quickly noticed her slightly heavier breathing out of one side only, surely shes compensating for the other gill which is in the completely shut position.

What might be happening? Gill flukes? What could I do to help?

Surely I need to take quick action so prompt responces are appreciated.

It could be flukes. Try a formalin bath. I use seachems para guard and add a capfull to 1 gallon of tank water. Put a air stone in and leave them there up to an hour if all is good. I had 3 athias with it and they were good to go afterwards and never had a problem with them since. And because they were struggling so bad they were a breeze to catch. Actually picked them up in my hands.

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply. Just got back with paragard and it took me a while but the fish is caught and in the bath as you mentioned.

Will leave it in there for 1 hour and hopefully al will be fine..

Thanks for your help.

Yes, both gills are moving now. Though she is still twitching a bit. Somebody on an other board recomended to do the dip 3 times at 2 day intervals. Still not sure if ill do it but for now its under control.
