Just got a Bellus Angel pair four days ago, and now my female is bobbing up and down all over the tank is if gasping for air. She spits out water when she comes up. Also below her pectoral fins is this red looking coloration that appeared. She also appears to be sheading? Like some mucus, but more skin-like. Is it a swim bladder infection? if so, how do i correct it?

Without pictures it is real hard to tell whats going on. Do you have a treatment tank? The shedding comment and bobbing has me a little concerned. Research marine velvet and see if you can find any pictures.

I wouldn't give up on this just yet. My concern would be if it was bacterial or parasitic and could affect the other fish in the display. (although, if they were in QT this isn't an issue).

Sorry for your loss.

Swim bladder problems are a common issue in Bellus'. They live in deep water and improper collection/decompression is most likely what leads to the swim bladder problems.

Concur, most likely swim bladder issues sorry for your loss. I got my pair from Blue Zoo, very healthy and doing great I have had the female for over a year and the male for about 5 months...
