Beneficial Fish For A SPS Dominated 29g Biocube

I'll be putting together my BioCube 29g and am looking into fish options. So far I am thinking of a leopard wrasse because they eat both flat worms and red bugs. I will most likely have a pair of clowns and then my beloved tail spot blenny. Anyone else have any ideas for fish that benefit sps. I read an article on the relationship between clown gobbies and acros, so will most likely get one of those as well. I know I'm already at a decent sized load but lets hear what other people know, I will also be running skimmer and can manage a heavier sized load.

A 29 gallon is too small for any Leopard wrasse IMO. The only wrasses that would be ok would be Possum (Wetmorella) or Pink Streaked Wrasse (Pseudocheilinops ataenia). Do your research on Clown Gobies. I have seen mixed reviews on them and how reef safe they are...

rainsford goby to eat hair algea and other algea

That is not their main diet (or any of their diet) AFAIK. They hunt all day for copepods, so they do pick at algae in that sense, but are not consuming it. They are a difficult fish. I have not seen many success stories with them living more than 6 months. A Tailspot Blenny as already mentioned would be a much better choice for consuming some algae.

+1

Was thinking about a lawn mower blenny for algae control. I wasn't away my tail spot would remove algae. I'm also not so sure on the leopard wrasse they tend to not do so well alone. I mainly want fish that will improve my sps. Basically a interesting assortment of janitors.

The tank is too small for a Lawnmower Blenny IMO. They do get pretty large, become aggressive with age, and do not always accept prepared foods. I had one starve in my 55. Stick with the Tailspot Blenny :)

And again, the tank is too small for any wrasses except the ones I mentioned (well a Minilabrus striatus would be fine as well, but hard to find). Keep in mind that the more (and larger) fish, the more bioload in the tank, and more likely you will have nutrient issues. If you want a successful nano tank, keep the tank lightly stocked. You are on the right track though...

Yeah I agree with your fish suggestion for sure! As far as my bio load I'm am very comfortable dealing with a larger load. I'll be running a carbon reactor and a skimmer. Along with media rack and refugium.

tailspot & clowns . my 28 is a glorified bucket. neon goby if must. skimmers & reactors are amusing toys in a 28 cube. have fun with the cube, don't be fooled and think it's a smaller version of a typical tank.

i must be lucky then. mine eats all kinds of algea all over my tank , eats nori and flake, too. it also eats mysis and pellet. i've had mine for well over a year, including a tank move. dude is FAT.
sorry to the op, that is how i thought all of them were....
