I'm at my wits end with this skimmer. I got a second hand Bermuda Aquatics 8c protein skimmer about a year ago and I have never really been able to use it correctly. I have it in the sump of my 265g, and it just overskims constantly. I tried running it in a vinegar bath, which only helped for a few hours. I've had to run it without the plug in the collection cup and have allowed all of the skimmate to flow back into the tank. With the gate valve all the way open, it takes about 10 seconds to fill completely. I tried to leave it like this to give it a chance to break in, but no change in months. I thought I had something in the water, but I would expect to see a change in foam production after this long if there was a contaminate in the water?
Changing the sump water level slightly seems to have no effect as well. Bermuda Aquatics also went out of business, so I can't contact the manufacturer or find any manuals online. Does anyone have this skimmer/ can anybody offer help? It's a shame, because from what I've read, these are really great skimmers. Thanks.
