110 gallon reef tank with mostly LPS and couple SPS corals. 4 fishes, soon the number of fishes will be 6.
I use 2x Tunze 6055 powerheads for flow. Both on pulse mode, one at 2s pulse 30% to 100%, other at 5s pulse 50% to 100%.
One is positioned on the left glass, other on the right glass, both pointed up and to the center of front glass.
I tried different positions of both pumps but i still get some dead spots behind the rocks.
I'm thinking about upgrading both powerheads to Tunze 6095 and maybe add a controler for waves.
I hate powerhead pulsing noise. Main reason i went for 6055 was they are dead silent in pulsing but even at 6055 i had to change setting a little bit to make them really quiet.
So i believe Tunze 6095 is as quiet as 6055. I would love to hear from you which other powerhead is dead silent in pulse. But if i understand waves correctly, powerheads are turning completely on/off all the time and that will bring the noise of pumps again?
Are waves the best way for flow in a tank and and is there any danger of water splashing over the tank if powerheads malfunction, controler or synhronization problems?
