Best Heater?

What heaters are you guys using?

I need a new heater for about 40g net water volume. What would you guys recommend?................by the way it does get pretty chilly in the tank room.

Have had 2 300w Stealths on my 75 gallon FW tank for 2.5 years now, no problems, it's in the basement which gets frigid in the winter. Have 2 in my 28g LPS tank now as well, run 1, have other just incase once winter hits. Love em.

Did those rancos increase in price or something? I don't remember paying that much for mine that I got under a year ago.

I remember them being $80 - somewhere - brand new. Just recently someone was asking about them, and someone responded with a link - but where I live, it's naturally hot. If anything, I need additional cooling. Luckily I don't.

I prefer the titanium tube heaters with remote thermostat controls. Keep the control outside the stand & it is much more resistant to failure than other types, IMO.

You can find the Rancos cheaper. I was just posting what I use. Although I love Stealths, I do not trust any heater. I feel that temp controllers are a must.

I think the best heaters available are the fluval e series. Digital thermometers with LED displays and color indicators.

I use a Reefkeeper and a Finnex heater that has no internal thermostat. There is no reliable heater thermostat- use aquarium controller or a Ranco.
