Best LFS

I have been to quite a few fishstores locally and in the surrounding areas. I am wondering where is the best place to get healthy fish. I haven't had much luck with the fish where I normally go.

aqua life is good, but i feel that your reef is the same quality if not better, but at a much cheaper price...........but. aqua life has ALOT more fish then your reef does. so there is always something there.

Your Reef has a lot better service...
I go to Aqualife to be ignored for an hour to an hour a half....

I also like Your Reef as well as Underwater Paradise. There are some shops that have lots of dead fish in their tanks. I would avoid these stores....

If you want answers, John and Brandon will help you out. They've got an EXCELLENT selection on corals...and fish but mostly corals. Rob at Underwater Paradise is kind of the same just...way out there in Marysville. BUT, he'll make it worth your while if you're willing to make the trip.

Coral Reef Shop in Carmichael is also fun to visit. Jaimie knows her stuff.

Rob, I definitely disagree about the price i have found quite opposite of your findings. BUt, YR is a great shop with great people working there.

Exotic has some really cheap prices from what i have seen also.

Those r about all i ever visit and not Exotic much just because of gas:)

really? well your probaby right, the only thing i really baised that off of was like 3 fish that i saw, i just freaked out when i went to yr one time and saw little blue tangs for $20 then saw the same size ones at aqualife for $40, i probably shouldn't base an idealolgy off of one fish lol. looks like i gotta go to aqua life soon then.

If you are talking about the north side, AL has better selection in fish, but compare to exotic they have way better selection and prices by far. YR fish selection is small, even JoJo get more than they do.

Nice. I have been to yourreef and aqualife once, but was looking for corals and not fish at the time. I will check them out. As for Marysville, not sure I wanna make the drive from Elk Grove. Thanks for the info.

On this end of town you've got Exotic, Paradise and JoJo's (all on the 47th ave corridor). Head north a little and you have Capitol, O Street and AquaWorkz.

The Roseville/Rocklin crew already mentioned Your Reef, and Aqualife. Not sure I saw Coral Reef Shop mentioned (Madison and Dewey?)

As for best, a number of these stores have their specialties. Not one comes to mind as the best for all.

You say that now...but Rob frequents this forum ALL THE TIME. You'll like his shop; it's a bit out of the way but he'll make it worth your trip. ;)

I agree with pete, I don't think anyone of them would be considered best for all. I go to different shops for different things.

The Coral Reef Shop and Aqualife:) I like that CRS runs copper in the tanks with new incoming fish.

I would say Aqua Works has a pretty good selection. And their prices are fair. I actually bought some dry stuff and it was a little cheaper than YR. Not sure how the livestock prices fair. I like the fact that AW always feels clean and well kept. Makes me think they keep on top of their tanks too.

I go there alot during my lunch hour (when I'm not handicapped) being it's real close to my office. It is a very clean atmosphere and the guys there are pretty helpful. And...they can give you some really fair deals (negotiable too).

Aqualife needs to feed their fish better...brine isn't enough. O street has some good deals too, but you have to monitor their fish...they have things on them you don't want sometimes, same with Exotic. I always ask the stores besides YR if they are running copper and some of the stores say they use 'a little copper'. What does that mean? It is either dosed properly or it isn't.

My latest issue is with Exotic and knowing the fish names....3 times I went down expecting something I called about only to find it isn't what they said. Damn near $20 in gas round trip for each mistake! I'm ready to host an Exotic carpool from the Roseville area......seriously. I meant to by a damsel last time I was there and forgot after the fish mistake. Not going back to make it a $25 damsel!
