Best light for my 10g

Could someone point me in the direction of a good light for a 10g? I will be keeping a variety of corals not just one type. Thanks

I have a single 65 watt daylight/03 PC light on my 15 gallon. Zoas, Mushrooms, Leathers and a LPS Torch are all doing great. You don't need a big light--the tanks only 12" deep and the coral are even closer to the light if they are on rock. With a small tank, keep it simple. No giant lights or power heads to cause heat problems. R

im running a 175 watt metal halide on my 10 gallon. and the corals i keep love it! its simple and with fans i manage the heat quite well.

I use the Coralife Aqualight 96w Quad. So far it's been a great light, although the fans are noisy.

ditto

There's also the Current USA Satellite 80w pc light for a 10 gal. The thing about it is you can control your actinic separately, but the things kind of cheap I think. Also, it takes four outlets to use it with the lights, fans, and moonlight. Just another option. :)

i got this too "Coralife Aqualight 96w Quad"

its a newly setup tank and the problem i noticed is that in a couple of hours the temp went up from 77 to 80.2 F

my mushrooms, hammer, frogspawn and zoa's seemed to be unused to the bright light. it is bright. i had the same wattage (96w) on the 60gal that they were in. and transferring them to the 10gal, they have to be reacclimated to the new bright light.

the feather duster's feathers seemed to have been burned. now im trying to have my lights on for only 4 hours just to see how they react.

just something to think about if you're getting stuff from you regular tank.

I like the 96 watt corallife fixture as well. First fixture I had for a nano reef for my first nano. Great fixture, cheap and enough light to keep a wide range of corals. The only down side to the fixtureis there is no dusk/dawn effect because of the one bulb. You'll get bit by the reef bug and be upgrading all kinds of stuff before you know it.:D

I used to use the Current USA 80w fixture on my 10g. It's actually only 3 power cords (actinic, daylight & fan, and lunar lights). Great fixture. I never had a problem and it never heated my water. Link It is $119 here. Dont' forget with the coralife unit mounting legs are sold separately...

I now use a 175w MH pendant over my 10g. Everything loves it. It's a 10k hamilton bulb with a magnetic (M57) ballast. The bulb sits about 10" above the top of the water.

I wouldlike to have a MH fixture for clams but they are a lot more expensive than pc unless you know of a high quality but inexpensive one. If so, give me a link
