Best Place to buy Acro Colonies?

When I was in the hobby before my buddy had a place he could order 10-12 SPS colonies at a time from for hella cheap. Mostly these were wild and maybe 20% ended up being a boring brown color but the prices were outstanding. If I remember correctly I think he was paying $200 for 12 baseball sized SPS colonies shipped to his door.

Anyone know a company, or wholesaler, that might do this still? If not, does anyone know the best company to put a bulk order through for some SPS colonies?

Thanks,

I think you need a license now.or know someone that a wholesaller. I could be wrong tho. But I think divers den has the best around the Internet.

I think Rhett can get you colonies. Not for sure though. I doubt they are going to be 15-18 bucks a piece though, I think he had some a while ago for 40 to 60 each.

+1 on Rhett. Shoot him a PM as I know that he is trying to clear room for his new tank. He is wanting to start fresh and deplete his current colonies.

Allgoodsystems, Is selling some wild caught corals with live rock Included for 200.00, They are mostly browned out from Improper lighting If I read his post correctly. You may look there?

give rhett a shout he will work something out with you for sure not to mention he is very nice guy i have bought from him several times

TritonsGarden.com can get you colonies, and you get a 15% club discount is you are a paid member of MTRC. Give Jack and Kathy a shout. Their SPS frags at the swap were huge and unsurpassed. Jsut another option..always check your options :-)

I agree with Andy there.. I got a SWEET green tort from tritons garden. Also Rhett can get some really cool pieces. He mainly does Rare stuff, or sought oafter colonies. I tihnk he is doing a Major Clam order this next week. supposed to be getting in a bunch of sweet maximas.

I just went to Fishey Business in Bowling Green and got some pretty nice sized colonies for $49.99. Some of them had acro crabs and everything. I even got a cool acro shrimp on one. I like growing stuff from frags but I needed something to fill in my empty tank while they grow.

I like Mitch's place, but pricing it hit or miss...also, I have bought a few things there and you must dip your purchase heavily..last peice, a yuma, had large amounts of flatworm.

Andy,

What are your dipping procedures/medications for different types of coral? I was mainly softies and LPS before and have only dipped zoos so anything else, I really don't know how to properly dip. Help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Iodine ..but keep inverts away from it.

I user Seachem Reef Dip and Brightwells medicoral. Others that are good are the Tropic marin coral dip. Some use straight old Lugols....most these work fairly well.

You mix according to isntruction, and then let them soak for about 10 minutes on average. Shake well a few times in the bath during the dip time. then rinse with fresh salt water..then into the tank (assuming you've acclimated them).

There was a great thread floating around regarding dipping, I'll have to dig it up. The guys in that thread were dipping for like 2 hours, surprised me.
