Best pump for kalk reactor

Ok, I have a mini-jet 404 now and I am about to replace the 3rd impeller. I was wondering what my best option is since I opted for the internal pump.

1) Keep replacing impellers

2) replace pump with a maxi-jet

3) run a small external pump (mag2, can be run externally with no issues)

4) any other ideas?

why would an external pump like a mag2 not have the same problems as an internal powerhead? the same amount of kalk powder gets all up in the impeller to wear it down, and the impellers are the same design.

look for something with a ceramic sleeve in the impeller that rides on the shaft.

My GEO kalk reactor uses a MJ 1200 as a recirc pump.

Would it not be easier to clean out the pump more often than buying a new impeller for it? I soak all my pumps every three or so months and they clean up well.

Maybe mount the pump at the top of the unit and pinch it down so it clouds at the bottom but stays clear at the top. Dont mix it up so much?

I’m pretty sure speartheman means the red plug at the top of the reactor.

I will take a running guess at this..

You glue the female portion of the coupling to the square top, assuming you have a round hole ;D drilled in the square top.

It is similar to an ABS cleanout fitting.

well the plug is actualy H20ENG design. Its just a plastic test plug from lowes and I took out the metal bolt and replaced it with a nylon one. Thats it, just unscrew and go!

I guess I will order another impeller and extend the pipe to the top and see how that does
