What's the best internal return pump for a 180g System?

Eheim 1262 is what I've run on my 180's, couldn'y be happier w/ my Eheims.

eheim 1262 or mag 9.5. if you want to spend more the ATB Flowstar 1500 is very nice. it's basically a Red Dragon at 1/3 the price.

Im running an eheim 1262 on my 185.

I'm using a Mag18 for my 125. Have to turn it down to about 20% of its potential. Wish i would of bought something smaller. Actually i wish i would of used an external pump because of the heat transfer it puts off.

I have 2 friends that run 180s with Eheim 1262s. They are both very happy with them.

Eheim 1262 are excellent. Actually Eheim pumps have always performed well for me with no problems.

Eheim 1260/1262 are the only ones I would run. I have heard that the new Tunze line return pumps were nice though.

depends on many factors: working head, desired flow rate, what your drains can handle etc. etc.

i think somewhere around 900-1300 would be sufficient

I have a mag 18 on my 125 and I have it plumbed externally. So you can do it if you want too.

Mag pump internal or external will put ~ the same heat in the tank. The pump is cooled by internal water passages. If it was external and you had a fan blowing on it, it might be a bit better.

i am using eheim and mag drive, i can say eheim makes less noise and run cooler than the mag.1260 for my 125 and mag 9 for my 40 breeder
