Best Test kits I've ever run across

Very good. I will pack them today and drop them off probably around 1 or 2 to AG and right around noon for AC.

Here is a quick note for those that are picking up at Aquarium Concepts.

Please make sure they have your ordrer - e.g. Apon, RadioLunatic,DSWong AND they know what the prices should be before you head over there.

Apparently Ken did not let his employees know about this. They will charge you list price if you go in to purchase and not comfirm the intended purchase price.

Yep, one wasted trip for me.

raddogz, I sent it over there today in a box and each person had a bag with their name on it. I also had a list with the prices that BAR members are supposed to pay. Sorry about this. PM me your address and I will send it to you directly. When you go over there make sure to say it is for the BAR group buy and there will be a bag with your kits in them and your name on it. This is strange because I told Ken and 2 employees but I guess it was not passed on to the employee you spoke to. I will be sure to let them know. Thanks for the info and I will call them in the morning. Jesse

Ok, just picked up my Ca test today.

I just tested my water yesterday and with Salifert, Ca registered at 420. Today, I tried the Elos test and my Ca tested at 600! I reran the test and got the same results. Hmmm....

The test itself was fairly simple to use, although the only point of confusion possibly is the fact that the spoon has 2 sides (almost used the big one by accident the first time).

Anyway, any thoughts to why there is such a big disparity?

Man you must be getting some good growth:) Honestly, this is not the first time I have heard this. So it was 22 drops of Reagent C? What is the expiration date on the other kit? The best thing to do would be to test another persons tank just to see if it is a defective kit but my initial thought is a false reading from a kit that has expired or has been exposed to high temperatures. Let me know if this is possible and what you find out.

If you have a Ca test standard, you can run both kits against that. I use SeaChem for Ca. Comes with a standard of known ppm. You could make up a fresh batch of saltwater and check against that to get a ballpark comparision.

Yeah I thought of that but the only problem would be if it is the same container/batch of salt. Here is a thread using our kit and the person found out he had a bad batch of salt. He also did a test with RO water that seems logical. Let me know what you find out.

I had my wife pickup the test kit today from AG and they gave her a salifert test kit. :( She even gave them a print out of the information with ELOS on it.

Some of you probably know this but it is something I should mention about all of the titrimetric tests like the Ca, Mg and kH. If you want or need more exact measurements you can do this easily. For example, on the kh, if you want to measure .5 instead of 1 drop per 1dkh simple add 10ml, instead of 5ml of test water and count each reagent drop as .5 instead of 1. Of course you will not get as many tests out of the kit but some prefer to do this every once in a while. Just thought I would mention this.

Ok just test Mag and Cal.
Mag is around 1500
Cal is 310 :( ..
So I just have to raise Cal to 450 or so right???

Yep. Just check alk after you get to the 450 mark.

Alk usually will go down as Ca goes up - hence the high alk you have and really really sucky low alk I got with a 450 reading in Ca

I will keep an eye on that .. Thanks Eileen!!
I have reef tank for 1.5 year now and this is the first time I test my own water :D ..

Man I should have added kh+ and expert Ca to the group buy:)
Microsoftie, did they square things away with your order?
