Help please

I need advice from the experts. I am moving a Saltwater reef ready tank with fish and coral. I am driving them in my van, a 12 hour trip.

What packing strategy should I use to ensure the highest survival rate? I planned on double bagging, adding a few drops of Amquel and using only room air. Is that adequate for that length of trip? Do I need heat packs? Do I need to add oxygen? Could I just open the bag and hit each bag with a battery powered air pump? How long?

Hi Ed,

Depending on the temperature of your car/truck, you might need to add a heat pack or two in the container. For a 12 hour trip, they should all be okay in bags. Amquel really isn't needed for bagging these animals. If you think that the trip may be longer, I would suggest putting them in 5 gallon buckets and using a battery powered air pump for circulation and surface agitation. I would also suggest keeping as much of the original tank water as you can for filling the tank at the new location.

Sincerely,

Ben R.
