Best way to transport fish.

So, to make a long story short. Im either getting out or taking an extended break due to some major family dynamic changes. I really haven't decide which yet but either way this Saturday all of my fish are being rehomed. They will be making about a 2 hour car ride to their new residence. All in all Im sending six fish away. 3 clowns, a naso tang, a yellow tang and magnificent foxface. I don't have bags large enough for the the tangs or the foxface. Will they be alright in old salt buckets with lids? More than one fish to a bucket? I need help with this asap guys. Please and thank you.

I do not see why it wouldn't work. I would put the three larger fish in their own buckets so they do not hurt each other.

If it were me and I had the buckets, I would bag the clowns and put the tangs and the foxface each in their own buckets. The scalpels on the tangs and the venom on the foxface are too many wildcards to have more than one customer per bucket, IMO.

Is there a cycled tank set up at the destination already?

They'll be fine in buckets. I transported 4 large (over 12" each) freshwater cat fish and plecos back in the day in buckets, without a hitch. They're much better off that way because they have a steady solid water level versus a fluctuating one in a bag. It's also only 2 hours.. Think of how long they're in bags during shipping...

If you have enough buckets, separate them.

I'm sorry for whatever it is your dealing with, Ryan. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Bring your buckets Greg, I have a couple but Im not entirely sure how many I have.
