Bicolor blenny

have a bicolor blenny, dark blue and orange, for about 6 months now. the orange on his tail has almost completely faded. he is otherwise apparently healthy and very active. he is eating pellets, frozen mysis, chopped shrimp and nori. anyone have an idea why he is losing color?

Params, Amm/Nitrite = 0, nitrate ~5, phos < 0.05, cal 450, alk 10, pH 8.1 sal 1.025, temp 78.

Take him back to the LFS and get a midas blenny!

already have some yellow, really liked the orange when it was there.

Ya, my Midas Blenny is my favorite fish.

I've heard that about the bicolor's somewhere else before. I don't remember why. I'm sure you could search it here or Google it and find an answer. I know the Ember blenny will turn cow turd brown once it matures, I really wanted one until I found that out. It's the best looking of all of the blennies IMO. Google image it and you won't believe how awesome they are.

There are different local varieties of bicolor blennies with different degrees of orange. I also feel that the orange tail is a mating signal that goes away if no girls are around - the males are like lonely castaways that let themselves go (grow a beard and don't wash their cloths so to speak ) when no females or competitive males are around...
