Reefers worst night mare. Woke up to a few gal of water on the floor and soaked stand. Seems like a seam broke on the bottom of the tank.

Any one have any extra heaters I can borrow for a few days? I'm in Spencerport so the closer the better.

Im not super close but got some heaters and pumps if you need. Will be in brighton, henrietta and gates throughout the day today. Can try to meet up.

This is a new tank right?

yes, less than a year old. Dan is very mad. (this is wife trying to help as best she can). I may just run over to Walmart and grab one for him. He's scary right now...

Its ok. this happens sometimes. Is there a tub or another tank to move lifestock and rocks?
I would move everything out of the tank. Clean it up and figure out where the leak is coming from. The new tank should be replaced by the vendor. The main thing is to maintain the livestock in the temp setup until the aquarium is replaced. Shouldn't be more than a week

tell him to relax, its a pain I know but it will work out. I have some large tubs if needed. He can call me if help is needed.

OK, this is Dan. How to have an awesome vacation day:

Step 1. Wake up ready to do some home projects on your second day of much needed vacation.

Step 2. Notice an ominous puddle forming under the display tank. Check for leak at bulkheads, and discover it's not the bulkheads, it's one of the seams on the bottom of the tank. Water leaking at at about a gallon an hour.

Step 3. Move all of the corals to the sump with some of the liverock. Move the rest of the liverock to rubbermaid buckets and siphon about 2/3s of the DT water out.

Step 4. Run to the store to get a couple heaters to keep rubbermaid tubs warm and liverock....alive.

Step 5. While grabbing a quick lunch notice the power in the restaurant has just gone out. Think to yourself "surely our power is still on at home, what are the odds?"

Step 6. The odds, apparently, are not in my favor. While stirring tanks and heating water on the stove to try to keep temps up, think about running to my parents' to get a generator.

Step 7. Power back on - HUGE relief.

Step 8. Call TRS to procure new tank.

Sigh.

sorry to hear that Dan, what a sh&%$@ start for a vacation. All my bad times turn out to be great and funny stories that I tell to my friends, so this can be one for the books :)

Dan I've got a 100 gallon rubbermaid tub if you don't have enough space or want to put everything into one. Couple spare ph's too if you need them.

Thanks guys, I think I'm OK for now - everything is in a temporary place. The good thing is I don't have very many corals.

So, the bottom pane of glass has a crack from the front to the back right along the centerline. I'm really surprised this thing didn't explode. I have no idea why it cracked. My stand is level and flat to better than a 1/16"

Holly cow.

Look at it this way...
1. You take a vacation...
2. only to return and find 125G of water on the floor with everything in the tank gone.

You are one lucky SOB. That is beyond crazy lucky.
Someone is looking out for you up there.

keep up with water movement/oxygenation. Every time I read a thread about livestock in a temp rubbermaid bin due to a tank leak leads to death due to lack of oxygen.

What brand tank Dan? Thats scary, glad to hear you were lucky enough to be around to catch it.
