Big skimmerS

I dont want to hijack or anything, but I had a quick question and I hoped some of you would be able to answer it.

Planning on running ozone on a new tank. Going to be injecting it in the skimmer. Now is the skimmers air sunction enough to pull the ozone through the system, or do I need to use an air pump to push the ozone through? I've googled it a bit and everyone just says "best way to run ozone is in a skimmer" they dont detail the details.

Thanks

----edit-----

that superskimmers.com link in the post above is broken.

Try www.superskimmer.com

I had an MRC MR-3R on my 180. I recently sold it and got a Euro-Reef RS250. Of course it doesnt perform as well but it does the job and I am very happy with the less power consumption.

Try www.superskimmer.com

on a needle wheel skimmer, where the air intake goes into the silencer, some are equiped with a 2nd tube/barbed fitting. this is where you plug your ozone into. if it only has one, some drill a hole and stick their hose into it. that way you dont effect the skimmers performance. because you dont pump a ton of oZone in your tank, you skimmer couldnt just run on it. and, if you endup pumping a little too much, it can bleed into the silencer. (i am no expert, but i have seen a few done) hope this helps.

I have a precision marine bullet 3 and really love the performance. I clean the injector about every 2 months.

how are you able to only clean so less often and have positive skimming?

How you post mutliple pics like that?
And thats a " cheap E-Shopps Skimmer"
wow does skim very well.

Today my skimmer (octupos 300) should be waiting in the box at my front door i will be posting pics of it tonight for sure!

i have my pictures loaded on photobucked.com (its free and it keeps other servers from loading up. i do keep coppies on my computer though.)
if the pictures are small enough, you just load them with out hitting enter. www.whatever.com[img] (this is usually where people hit enter, i dont. i just put another image. if you see on some where there is typing and the pictures is on the right, its because the picture is after the typing. i always put the text before or after the picture, never on the same line.

if you need more info, just pm me and i will give a better explanation.

265 Gallon tank - 340 gallons total

I have a Bubble Master 250. A lot of people didn't seem to like this skimmer but it works very well and very reliable for me.

glass reef- it looks like you are having success running two skimmers, i've always heard that running two is not recommended. do you ever run into any problems w the dual skimmers?

Had a friend build me a MR-3R DUAL Stack Recirculating Protein Skimmer, copied from myreefcreations

Rated 1000 Gallons

CRbuild005-1.jpg

Rated for 1600 gallons? Thought it was up to 800gallons. nice skimmer regardless.

some website claims that! but coralvue rated it @ 800 gallons
i only using 2 pumps right now because running 4 might be a overkill for my 380+ total gallon system .with almost 40 gallons for the skimmer alone 18"x 36" high

There are quite a few people that recommend running two skimmers such as Anthony Calfo. The advantage to running two skimmers are one can be set to wet and one to dry skim removing different organics from the water. Plus if one stops working the other is there as a backup.

Plus, you get the crud out faster - in addition to the fact that you're not shut down when it's time to clean one. :)
