Guess I'm like a New York coral drug dealer and just got another one addicted, so yes another coralaholic has been recruited!:)

im from ny and have seen the tnak in person and its simply the best you can ever see. My favorite aspect is the fact that there are so many fish and corals at once. MOst home reefs tend to be near fish free but not this one. There are Even angels!!! The clownfish anenome tank is my second favorite, I love the anenome movement, plus there is so much hosting taking place as well, great symbiosis. All this talk makes me want to go back right now!!

just joe I noticed in one of the pics someone posted of your tank there was a school of monos in there... rather interesting choice... how are they doing in the reef tank?

They're doing great, they were from our seasonal outdoor 80K gallon snorkeling tank and schooled great out there, so I thought I'd try them in the reef. I put 5 in there and they school nicely which is great for our education department when they are talking about survival strategies, etc. That is the main reason I put them in there.

Both Bill and Twize were regulars here in the past. I think they got tired of people asking the same questions over and over and/or generally hastling them about their methods, then they left.

Bill's 20,000g tank was halted all together due to some other life issues. Remember, he is only about 31/32, so nothing is set in stone... he may still do it, but I think now its used for just fish or something.

my vote is still Atlantis Marine World on Long Island as seem above and below.
20,000 gallons and just incredible. and Joe, the father of the tank and reefkeeper is such a nice guy.

this tank can support a dedicated coralivore or two.

or the Waikiki Aquarium in Honolulu
5,000 gallons and also amazing

they have the oldest clams in captivity in the world, over 30 years.

managed by Charles Delbeek of the "Reef Aquarium" vol I, II, and III fame. he will soon be moving to San Francisco to manage the new Steinhart Aquarium in Golden Gate Park which is set to open this fall. it too will be amazing i am sure. her had a hand in it's design and i think it will be 200,000 gallons also but the size info is from my memory so could be totally wrong.

and they are both open to the public for a few dollars.

Steinhart will be 212,000 gallons! Yes, I totally agree with Atlantis Marineworld. Made a few donations earlier this year and was lucky enough to spend a few hours with Joe. A great guys with tons of knowledge to share!

A few of my corals probably will be in Steinhart's tanks, as well as others from my local club. The 20,000g tank at the temporary facilities was fairly impressive, although hardly "beautiful" as it was more of a test bed to figure out how to effective pound light to the bottom of a tank that's 2 stories tall.

When the beast goes up it might not be that impressive (other than size) initially, simply because it will take time to grow in, encrust, etc, but once it does take hold (3-5 years maybe) it will be stunning to say the least!

wow, Steinhart is doing it up big eh? That's so cool. I haven't been there in years. Do they have any kind of a completion estimate yet?
