Joe, understandable on not having much time. We do have a club down here, Marine Aquarium Society of the Carolina's. We've been around for a year and a half after our yahoo group got so big there was 200 ppl at a local reefers house. We'll be having our meeting in August, might be able to talk to some ppl about having you come down to speak. Who would they need to get in contact with?

Dan

August is tough, very busy here in the summer with visitors. If you have anything in the fall, we could go for that. I'm part of the Marineland speakers program, and they help cover the costs of bringing speakers in. Contact me directly and hopefully we can work something out.

And Julio, thanks for the kind words-they'll be an extra frag for ya' at the next meeting :D
Joe

Joe, you might be able to come to a much smaller RARE meeting during the fall, MASOTC just has one meeting a year during the summer, while RARE has one about every other month. I'll talk to the leaders about it.

I've had the pleasure of being a hobbyist and professional aquarist, but wasn't happy working for someone else so I cofounded Atlantis Marine World Aquarium where I designed and built this 20,000 gallon reef tank, so even though its this big and at a public aquarium, its still my own reef tank :)

I saw him give a presentaion at the BRS meeting...he is a good speaker...and he helped build a saweeeet tank!(Joe Yaiullo)

JustJoe,

When you said you would like to have a 15' tank (height), do you think the 2K MH's would be able to still grow SPS's at the bottom?

Gary

I went to last years NERAC and it was awesome, this years list of speakers also looks real good, and sure... taking a behind the scenes tour of the this aquarium... you cant beat that ;)

1000w with the right reflector would punch some light down there, and yes 2000w would get even more so you'd be able to do sps at the bottom. Folks on the west coast at Steinhart aquarium have a prototype tank at I believe 20' deep and punch enough light to the bottom. Big electric bill for sure.

Great guy who will answer all of your questions and will guide through any help you might need.

Thanks Julio, there will be an extra nice frag for you at the next meeting;)

NERAC is a great excuse to come see the tank. Nice surroundings, good people and great food too.
