i met the guy who owns that at the German Fisch & Reptil Show. havent seen the actuall tank in person. its the sort of system i woul love to have

Doesn't Klaus Jansen have a 35,000 gallon home aquarium? I pretty sure that's what I read in Eric Borneman's book, and it had a couple of pictures, although not of the whole thing. I will have to check when I get home, unless somone has the book handy, it's towards the front of the book.

Not sure if this is Klaus Jansen's tank or not. But it's a different approach to building a tank. If only I could speak German. LOL.http://www.korallenriff.de/05_royal_exclusiv_L.html

Another intersting site. They are building a 28,000 L tank in Kuwait. http://english.royal-exclusiv.de/index2.htm

A cool L shaped reef tank. Great pics of the equip room.

SORRY, can't seem to get the smilie out of the link. Funny though, you can copy the link and paste it and it still works.

LOL, maybe I should go back to work. Wasting time looking at Aquriums that I could never afford.

Why does this thread say "Mast beautiful" with a little "O" over the "A"?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Enlighten me please.

wait a second.... that tank in german....... the L shaped one.... are there pics with it fish and water in it????

it would be really cool to have two totally different levels i think.

any more links... i cant understand a word on their site!!!!

the link about the L shaped tank is just an report about the company and the tank is an example of the work they do, they talk about how Klaus builds tanks ect, use a online translater it should translate good enough that you know what they are talking about, btw that tank was for sale, dont know if it's sold yet or not, but it is not Klaus Jansen's own tank,
btw, i am german, but i dont feel like translating the whole side for you :D

i guess there isnt any place with pics of that tank with water in it huh???

having two dramatic levels like that would be so awesome!

what is that stuff they used as rock to line the tank????

its some kind of foam, it is sprayed on

Guys,
I think Heinz posted a thread about that tank earlier on. It was for say on ebay for about 45 000 euros from memory?

Klaus Jansen's tank is a mystery. I find it incredible that he doesn't use pictures of it on his own website! Looks like a pretty good example of his workmanship to me.

yeah that was it... that foam.... realistically.... that kind of tank wouldnt be hard to build at all... the most expensive part would be the L shaped piece of glass.

i really like that foam.... but its a whole diferent story once you put water in the tank and see how dirty that stuff gets.

I did not see the canopy in his thread, but you can see the finish product in his gallery page.
Thanks for the compliments, but this is a 'nano' at only 240 gallons compared to the monsters they're wanting pics of in this thread. It doesn't really belong here. But, here's a better pic of the tank with new rockscape and some new SPS. I've actually added several new pieces since this pic was take, so it looks even better now. Oh, there is no canopy. I left it a completely open top which was my idea from the beginning. Complete unrestricted access at all times and great 'tidepool' viewing!

Your tank may not be a super monster tank, but very nice and different than many I see on this site. I'm always looking for ideas for my next tank. Your tank is acrylic, right? Did you check into glass at all with this tank at all? Just curious.

Thanks Tom. It is made from 1" acrylic with a 3/4" acrylic bottom. I did ponder the idea of having this built with starphire glass to avoid scratches, but the amount of holes I needed drilled in the back and bottom scared me, so I went with acrylic. Also, with glass I would have had to have a number of cross bracing across the top which I really didn't want for many reasons. Being able to upgrade to 1" acrylic for strength kept me from needing any top bracing. This allowed for a nice streamlined edge around the top. Its so easy to clean the panes also. One of my favorite views is from the top. I can turn off all pumps with the flip of a switch and look straight down into the reef. Colors are great from this view. Thanks again. I hope this discussion doesn't hijack this thread though.
