Bio pellets...

Never Quit!!
So I've been thinking .....I know I know lol

So my tank has finished it's cycle but I'm not going to add anything to it for another 2 weeks or so. What does this have to do with anything..? Right ..

I'm going to take the dip into pellets So my Question is....should I wait a couple of months To start them? Is there a rule to wait until u have a reading of po4/no3?

no rules you can start them now, but you should think about the kind you want to use. I for one would not use NP or NPX they just seem to be too many problems with them. I use warner marine ecobak pellets, smaller, need MUCH less flow and i have not seen anyone have any problems with them at all and they really do work well.

If your tank has finished it's cycle, you should have nitrates, even if not an excessive amount.
I am using NPX, but I just started them a few days ago, so I can't say much about them. I am also using GFO, Lanthanum Chloride and Phosguard for PO4, and I just added a Nitrate reactor yesterday, too. Even if my PO4 (now reading .03, down from 1.54) and Nitrate (now at about 30 PPM) get to zero, I won't be able to tell you for sure which thing helped. I can say that the Lanthanum Chloride seems to have an immediate, large effect on PO4, but it needs to be run in a diatom filter.

Right now a 2lf phosban reactor with the spunges removed but soon to be in a vertex reactor

I'm also using the 2LF Phosban reactor without the sponges. Right now, I have no plans on changing reactors, I get what looks like good tumbling, and don't see any reason to change. Remember, I'm only going on about a week of running the pellets this way.

I also use NPX in a TLF reactor... Ive thought of the vertex reactor or the Nextreef reactors. But everything has been going fine for me with the NPX.

ill be starting my bio pellets next week i bought the super reef octopus BR110 a little on the pricey side but it looks nice and dont have to worry about the pellets coming out... i was gonna use the vertex bio pellets how are these?? if anyone is wants to look at the reactor i bought heres the link

good man you will be very happy with them, the best thing is the small amout of flow needed I'm using a maxijet 400 on my 2lf and had to dial it back a bit.

Do you guys think running biopellets and carbon in a dual chamber reactor will be alright? Don't remember the company but its the dual chamber Gotham Aquatics sells..
