Question on corals - I have Kalkwasser haven't used it yet obviously and a ATO. I hope I don't need a calcium reactor because I don't have much room under my stand and already have a GFO & Carbon reactor. Do you think I will need a calcium reactor?

Blue tang = Hippo tang? If so skip that as it will get to big for your tank. The rest of your want list looks good but remembrer the cowfish can poision the tank if stressed.

As for your maybe list only 1 clownfish pair per tank so skip a second pair. And im not sure about betta's so wait for others to chime in.

With those corals you should be fine not needing a cal reactor, kalk should keep up or if not you can look into doseing randys 2 part.

As for the aquascape i think it looks good.

You'll never "need"'a calcium reactor per se as automated 2 part dosing is always an option. In the beginning, water changes should cover your needs. As you add Stoney corals & others grow, your needs will increase and you can phase in your kalk reactor. Later you may decide on 2 part or a calcium reactor is a better choice. So periodic testing with good kits is a must.

yeah blue tang - I will sell it if it gets too big I heard 135 6 foot long tank should be good as i will get it as a juvenile and will get all my fish small. I was thinking about maybe getting a claim and I know they suck calcium out of the water.. I guess..I do have a apex so i will look at the dos in the future if I need it.. as for the cowfish from what I have read its basically a myth about it crashing a tank.

so you don't think everything on my wanted list is not to heavy on the bio load? I have a vertex omega 150 and 8x8x1 marine pure block in my sump

Hippo tangs need a 8' 240 gal tank, its not a matter of if it gets to big but when it gets to big. But other than that you should be ok, copperbands are difficult to get to eat so deff make sure it is eating when you buy it and anthias should be feed multiple times per day so an auto feeder is a good idea, i feed mine 4 times a day with a mix of flakes and pellets and once a day with a mix of frozen.

Just looked up the cowfish, they reach a size of 1'8" and are suggested to go into a 250 gal tank so i would skip that fish

Thanks yeah I know they get big but planned on trading them in once they started getting really big as I was planning on getting all my fish as juvinelies. I will also think about the hippo tang i was thinking maybe kole tang, powder blue, and yellow instead.

Is there any particular order you guys suggest I add these fish? I have a 20 gal QT long that is about 1 more week away from cycling.

Planned on getting coral/RBTA first maybe this weekend then once QT tank is up and going adding the fire angel, anthias, tangs, wrasse, royal not sure on the order though I guess tangs would be last?

The market for oversized fish is just non-existent. You first have to find a guy with an 8 foot tank that doesn't have his own hippo tang. CHances are you won't even be able to give the fish away.

You may be able to donate it to a local aquarium?

I have an 8ft tank that I was looking to put one in. It was advised against unless it was the only tang. I wouldn't take it with that knowledge.

I thought I could trade it in for store credit at a LFS or something! If not i'm fine with not buying one but really enjoy the look of them!:uhoh3: I'm not in any rush can someone chime in about the order you would suggest adding to my QT then DT.

So i'm thinking my full tank will be : Seem okay for 135gal?

(2) Clowns ( been in the tank for 2 months )
(1) Yellow Tang
(1) Powder Blue Tang
(1) Kole Tang
(1) Royal Gramma
(1) Fire Angel
(1) Copper Band Butterfly
(2) Lyretail anthias
(1) RBTA
(1) Flasher Wrasse
(1) Marine beta

Anyone? I'm going to buy some fish this weekend and want to know what to get first or how many etc etc I have a 20 gal long (not sure on the order though I guess tangs would be last? ) want to have a game plan!

A. Slow down
B. Slow down
C. You want to add from least aggressive to most aggressive.
D. Fire angel may be a bad choice if you plan to add coral.
E. It's typically best if you can manage it to only QT 1 fish at a time. The more fish you stick in a QT magnifies the chance one of them will have a disease and spread to the others. Sk8r posted a thread about this a couple days ago. Here. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2535902
F. Be wary of selling fish when they get huge. The premise seems simple, but it is actually much harder than you would think. I tore down one of my tanks a month ago and had 2 aggressive fish I needed to get rid of. Had them posted for sale for at least 2 months, and even cheaply priced never got an offer. Ended up having to donate them to a LFS. Depending on what LFS you have in your area, and how big there tanks are, they may even refuse them.

Gramma/ anthias, wrasse
angel, butterfly, beta,
clowns
3 tangs

Just want to say my expiriance with tangs. 210 cm ( i think about 7 feet ) tank with 25-ish fish in it. Have 3 tangs . Yellow, blue and Achanturus Japonicus. No problem at all.

Gramma/ anthias, wrasse
angel, butterfly, beta,
clowns
3 tangs

I'm going slow :) I just want to know what is aggressive and what isn't b.c i'm new to salt and want to add them in the correct order. I know my clowns are aggressive but they are already in the tank and have been for 2 months.

So you suggest in this order :

1 royal Gramma
2 lytail anthias
1 Flasher wrasse
1 fire angel
1 copperband butterfly
1 marine beta
3 tangs

should the tangs be 1 fish at a time? If so which tangs first thinking yellow, kole, powder blue - I would like to add a yellow tang asap can that move up the list without issues?

Thanks!

When I was stocking my 150, I asked steve (snorvich) if I can have 3 tangs and he advised against it as they are all algae grazers. I would pick 2 of the 3.

And as others have mentioned, you will need to add the tangs last. If you add the yellow first, he will likely be aggressive towards your additions after him.

Also, you may want to rethink the copperband as it may develop an appetite for your corals.

I will keep a eye on him and the angel - would you suggest QT them at same time then and adding them at the same time or one at a time and if so which one is first?

Stingeragent answered that pretty well for you (and read through Sk8r's post). I personally have QT'd 2-3 fish at the same time, but it doesnt mean its right. I lost fish along the way. Could it be directly related to having them in the same QT? Im not sure.

If you have the means to do it, I would follow Sk8r's post.

I get it he said 1 at a time.. I read sk8r's post the day it came out I'm well aware less fish is better. I'm asking which Tang should be added first, yellow, kole, powder blue, etc etc and I heard adding them at the same time is best..I have a 20gal long and was planning on doing 2 at a time and hopefully they are around the same size. Assuming yellow is more aggressive than kole, powder blue, or achilles tang?

I dont have an answer as to which tang is more aggressive. I believe its a matter of if they establish a territory.

Yes, I would add the tangs together if you can.

Should be fine id skip the flame angel with any of those corals imo lps and angels don't mix and that copperband will nip at your corals too.

Marine betta would work just don't keep small fish of shrimp in the tank. Full size marine betta will eat a full grown cleaner shrimp
