biophos 80?

Has anyone had any experience with this product? I started it in my reactor a couple of days ago. Loved that there was almost no dust. Started with about 1/4 of the amount of the Rowaphos that I usually use. It brought my PO4 down from 0.18 to 0.00 in a couple of days (per hanna checker). Would love to hear any thoughts about this stuff.

It seems to be a GFO product, so it should be fine. There's actually only one manufacturer world-wide, I think, that supplies all the GFO we use, but the manufacturer does have a number of products, and the aquarium supply vendors can treat them, as well.

Thanks Jonathan
Yes, it's a synthetic resin product. I had to order it from the UK. I had read a few reviews from users in Europe that raved about it. Seems no one here has heard of it. I am very pleased so far, mostly that it is so less messy than the Rowaphos which seems to spew rust all over my tank when I change it. The cost with shipping overseas is about the same as the Rowa but I am only using about a fourth the amount. Will be interested to see how often it needs changing out. Thanks for your reply, April

Interesting product, looks like Bio-Phos 80 has been out for a year or so? Idid find this info to compare the Bio Aquate

PO4x4

According to the company, 500ml of this product can remove 3 ppm of phosphate and silicate from roughly 16,000 liters of fresh water or 8,000 liter of marine water. Since the product seems to work so well, they recommend adding small amounts of the product to gradually lower the PO4 levels without causing rapid and negative changes to the water chemistry.

Bio Aquatek lists a capacity ranging from 40g/kg to 80g/kg of PO4 removal depending on water conditions and is also suitable for absorbing silica (S1O2) from the system.

In comparison, ROWAphos removes 12G of phosphate per kg of media. Bio-Phos 80 is also described as high density with low dust so it stays in place where it is supposed to be and not break off and float into your main tank and harm your tank's inhabitants.

According to the instructions every 100g of Bio-Phos 80 is capable of removing up to 4ppm of PO4 from 1,000 liters in a saltwater aquarium or from a 2,000 liter freshwater system.

Has anyone used Bio-Phos 80 po4 remover??
Looking to try some , but want to know the grain size. can't find any pics.

Just saw this post....

I've been using Bio-Phos for a couple of years now and I really like it.

As far as grain size, I'd say it's similar to Rowa-Phos. I just used all I had today and looks like I need to order some more. Even though they are located in the UK, they do ship to the U.S. and shipping is very reasonable.

Can you confirm what media bags you use if you do?

Just ordered some from Aquacadabra and even asked it they were suitable but clearly they never actually checked as just looking at the bags they sent they are useless and would be lucky to hold marbles... (ok slight exaggeration but biophos pretty much goes straight through)

Sounds like a useful product. I've had god luck witt BRS HC gfo. It's much denser than most others ;it holds up well in use and regenration, fwiw.
